I’m sure there are some of you that have watched darts before and listened quite perplexed as a commentator mentions the term “oche”. While modern darts tend to use the term throw line or toe line, the oche was the traditional term used to define the throw line in darts. If you are using a wild card to cover both a singles game and a doubles game, you will need to draw 2 cards and it will count as 2 wild cards Ensure stability: If you’re using a raised oche, ensure it’s stable and won’t move or shift during gameplay. The BULL’S Darts collection also includes signature steel tip darts for professional players like James Wilson, Jermaine Wattimena, Brian Raman and Rusty-Jake Rodriguez.

Wild cards are to be used to top up players when you are short and are not to be used when you have players availableMeasure the diagonal distance: Using a tape measure or a piece of string, measure a diagonal line from the bullseye to the floor. The correct diagonal distance for steel-tip darts is 9 feet 7 3/8 inches (293 cm), and for soft-tip darts, it’s 9 feet 9 inches (297 cm). Occasionally, players are allowed to throw their darts from either side of the oche line. But even when this is the case, they must remain behind the boundaries that would be there if the oche line was extended a few inches in either direction.

Sometimes a player is allowed to throw their darts from a point on either side of the oche line. However, the same rules apply. Therefore, the player’s toes may not step beyond an imaginary line parallel to the raised Oche. Can You Lean Over The Line In Darts? The reason that the throwline became known as the oche in darts is unclear. There are a number of theories as to how the name came about, though, with one of which being that the name comes from an old Finnish word for “spit”. A key feature of a darts floor mat is that they all come with a measurement printed on the mat of where you should be throwing from. This throw line is known in darts as the ‘oche’ and the official measurement for professional steel tip tournaments is 2.37m. Measuring a darts throw line involves three key measurements: the height of the dartboard, the distance from the board to the floor, and the distance from the board to the throw line. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you set up the perfect darts playing area: If you have chosen the Express Courier option, we take every effort to ensure your items leave within 24 hours. However, during the busy season, this guarantee has to be extended to within 48 hours. Many of the darts mats can also be rolled up and put away when not in use. This also makes them very portable, so you can easily transport your darts mat to wherever it needs to go! Different oche options

Measure the throwing distance: The official throwing distance, or oche, is 7 feet 9.25 inches (237 cm) from the face of the dart board, measured horizontally along the floor. Mark the oche with tape or use a raised oche bar to create a clear throwing line. A dart mat with a raised oche, such as the Unicorn Lightweight Raised Oche and Dart Mat, is the ideal choice if you want a more professional setup. This mat features a built-in raised oche so you can put your foot against a raised toe line, like the professionals do, which lends itself to more consistent play. We are introducing wild cards to the darts league, this is to allow you to still play a match should you be short of players, the wild cards are going to be restricted to 2 per half of the season. The use of the wild cards is detailed below; Failing to follow this rule results in disqualification the same way it would if the player was throwing from behind the main portion of the line. How to Pronounce ‘Oche’

The BULL’S Darts Mats collection features the innovative Oky system. This ingenious creation is an adjustable oche made of steel that can simply be placed on all darts mats to give players a professional-like setup at home, replicating a typical throw line that would be seen in tournaments. Understanding the oche is essential for both casual and competitive dart players. It not only sets the standard throwing distance but also provides a consistent footing position, contributing to your overall throwing technique and accuracy. Standard Oche Measurements
