GoPro’s current lineup of action cameras offer some of the best video stabilisation around, but for cinematic camera movements, nothing quite compares to a dedicated gimbal. Compact and versatile, the Zhiyun Crane M2 S is a three-axis stabiliser that can be paired with your GoPro, smartphone or mirrorless camera. It offers dedicated stabilisation modes for recording smooth panning, POV and follow shots and even boasts a vortex mode for filming creative transitions. Outside of typical mounts and attachments, there are several other accessories that can really boost your GoPro’s flexibility. Spare batteries are always a welcome addition, enabling you to shoot for longer while on the go. A decent case for organising attachments, memory cards and cables is always worth considering. Additionally, lights, waterproof housings and GoPro’s official accessory mods can all come in handy. GoPro subscription discounts A good idea here is to sync all the cameras crudely. If one of you shouts start recording and then once all cameras have started one of you claps as loudly as possible, you’ll have an audio key to sync the clips when editing. Using remotes and apps It’s crucial to discuss what factors make the best GoPro bike mount. Since there are so many options, knowing what to look for will help you differentiate each bike mount. Each biker has different preferences and needs, so the best GoPro bike mount for one individual might not be the same for another.

Because a GoPro has to be small, and do a lot of computing work to process stable video, it does use battery faster than a big camera. That's why it's important to keep more than one if you're looking to capture a day (or more). Why are there so many GoPro accessories? It was an extremely welcome move when GoPro started introducing touchscreens into its Hero cameras, but screens of course do need to be looked after, and this is doubly true for action cameras that are thrown into tough situations. Always consider the size of your handlebars when searching for mounts that clamp on them. If the handlebars are large, it is possible that the mount will not be big enough to clamp down in a way that keeps the camera steady. Mounting Mechanism I also put a dab of Loctite on the screws just to ensure they stay in place and don’t work free over time. The Forevercam Handlebar Mount is an extremely durable full metal GoPro handlebar mount. This mount is made with aluminum alloy, which provides a lightweight yet durable build. In addition, it features an off-center camera mount with a 360-degree rotatable head.K-Edge again makes a superb version, and it fits most saddles I’ve fitted them to over the years. There’s also a newer GoPro version which is very good and again all metal construction. Now, it’s time to jump into my list of the top recommendations. I narrowed down a list of over 50 options to give you the best of the best. Therefore, these are the only GoPro mounts you should consider for biking if you don’t already own any GoPro bike mounts.

Also, try to balance the weight of the camera on the pole, you can use a zip tie to harness to your helmet or add weight to the end of the pole. You’ll see what I mean when you try. Attaching a GoPro handlebar mount to your bike There’s actually two different GoPro mounts offered by KOM. The bundle tested and shown here is the CM06 computer mount, which is different than their other mounts in that it has the quarter-turn tabs built into the bottom of it. This mount is built with aluminum alloy and plastic, making it virtually indestructible but incredibly lightweight as well. In comparison to the Forevercam Handlebar Mount, the PGYTECH Mount offers better build quality and stability. Therefore, you should choose this option if you want a more premium GoPro handlebar mount.

Using multiple GoPro cameras on your bike

If you want one that will offer you the best quality take a look at the all-metal versions from K-Edge. These are solid and vibration free and even without HyperSmooth engaged will enable you to capture spectacular footage. The main criticism I have about the GoPro Hand + Wrist Strap is its relatively high price point compared to other options on today’s list. Furthermore, wearing this mount for extended periods of time can be uncomfortable since your GoPro hangs off your wrist. Nonetheless, this is an incredibly fun GoPro bike mount I highly recommend to all bikers.

The chest mount is a GoPro staple, and some of the most common and spectacular GoPro footage has been captured using this type of mount. In addition, it comes with a small wrench to tighten the mechanism once you’ve rotated it to your desired angle. Everything works well together, but it can be difficult to remove due to the tight screws. In terms of setup, it takes a few seconds to clamp the mount to your handlebars. It fits any round tube from 0.87 to 1.38 inches. However, you can also attach the mount to reflective mirrors with a diameter ranging from 0.27 to 0.63 inches. It’s essentially a harness, pop it on, bolt on the GoPro and you’re ready to go. The over the view perspective of the bar as you ride is impressive; it can also highlight any mistakes that you make when riding the trial. When fitting again make sure the rails are clean and give them a good wipe down before you start the installation.

This is a dynamic view and angle that impresses people, and is one for road bike cyclists or at least those with a traditional style of a skewer. GoPro’s Hero cameras are rugged, feature in-built mounting points and 10m of waterproofing straight out of the box. While this should see you in good stead for most activities, for more extreme sports and diving, you may wish to consider protection. While some third party options are available, when it comes to waterproofing especially we’d always recommend going for the real deal. GoPro’s screen protector set is a simple, inexpensive solution, not only safeguarding your screens from scratches and smudges but also reducing glare on sunny days, making the screen easier to see and use. FAQs What GoPro accessories are essential? Keeping just one position can be boring, so to liven up your footage by swapping your camera between different positions to get alternate perspectives.

My main criticism of this camera is that the 360-degree swivel doesn’t let you set any position. This is because it has specific stops about 20 to 25 degrees apart. So although you can technically swivel it 360 degrees, it doesn’t offer truly precise viewing angles. So far I’ve only found a handful that are any good. Even the official GoPro one is a little ropey when it comes to vibrations, but is probably the best for the price out there. If you do use the GoPro style of clamp make sure you select the correct sized rubber shim for your bar type. Once in place also make sure it’s clamped down tight, and you switch on HyperSmooth or image stabilisation to cut out the inevitable vibrations. Adding a GoPro seat mount to your bike
