Description

Makita power tools have been operating for over 100 years and are one of the best brands within the industry. Part of Makita's vision includes striving for innovation in its technology and tools, making them a popular brand for a wide variety of trades. It couldn’t be easier to use. Pushing the screwdriver into the screw to make it rotate feels natural. They’ve included a mini ratchet wrench in with the accessories. I think I’ll use this all the time, it’s just really handy.

First off, this is one of the best electric screwdriver kits out there because it includes an offset and right-angle adapter. They’re not things we’d normally splash out on, but when you need to get at that screw, nothing else will get the job done. You’ll be grateful they included it, trust us. The powerful motor can deliver a torque of 4 Nm and generate up to 220 rpm. It’s more than capable of providing all your screwdriving needs in the home and garden. The kit includes a micro-USB type adaptor, a USB micro charging cable and a massive 81-piece bit set in a sturdy storage case. The flexible drive shaft is probably the best accessory you can get for a portable electric screwdriver. It gets into the tightest spots imaginable!

You get a pair of LED lights on the end of this driver. Together, they make a good job of illuminating the darkest of cupboards and dingiest of corners.Charge time of between three and five hours is a long time if you need it right away. Without a removable battery there will be downtime if you don’t plan ahead. However, the WX240 really comes into its own if you’re working in cramped spaces, or doing fiddly jobs where a larger cordless driver with more of a pistol grip might get in the way. I used both the WX240 and the Bosch IXO to assemble a PC inside a new case, and while the Bosch was fine for removing external case screws, the Worx was a lot more usable inside the case and for getting screws into the motherboard. It charges in under 90 minutes over a USB-C cable, and will happily last for around 35 to 45 minutes of work. For bigger screws on DIY jobs, you might want something with a little more power and torque; but if you need something that feels and works more like a manual screwdriver, this is the one to buy. The 5 Nm of torque goes a long way on electric screwdrivers. This one confidently screws into a range of materials. The torque setting collar is the sort of thing normally found on a larger cordless drill. Compared to the Bosch IXO, you have a lot more control over the power you can put into the screwdriver bit. Firstly, lithium-ion batteries do not like to be too hot, especially when they are fully charged. So, keep your batteries at a temperature of between 20 and 25 degrees wherever possible.

This cordless screwdriver is a neat piece of kit though, well-built and powerful, yet compact and light to use. It is powered by a 3.6 Volt 1.5 Ah Lithium-Ion battery that can hold its charge for surprisingly long periods (depending on the workload of course) and charges in around 3 hours. Also, a battery protection circuit protects against over-discharging and over-heating, therefore extending the battery life. Makita has the world's largest cordless tool line-up powered by an 18V slide-style battery. There are over 100 tools in Makita's expanding 18V Series, with solutions for trades ranging from concrete to commercial, automotive to residential construction – and more. Write: DIY Garden (Harris Creative Ltd), Lytchett House, 13 Freeland Park, Wareham Road, Poole, Dorset, BH16 6FAThe grip shape makes handling this cordless screwdriver easy. I like the ergonomic shape and the rubberised bottom lip. Compared with the more expensive Bosch IXO screwdriver, I’m impressed by the range of included accessories. They even come well organised in their own plastic case. I like the fact that there are plenty of accessories to upgrade the IXO, but the cost starts to add up if you buy them. This one’s great for bigger projects: it’s versatile, it’s got plenty of welly and it comes with an 81-piece set of bits that should cover just about everything you would need. With a respected brand like Makita, you know you’re not getting poor-quality accessories. It’s a little large for some smaller jobs, though, and a little too fierce for jobs that need finesse, such as PC builds or appliance repairs. When you’re up to something major, though, this is a top tool for the job.

It’s a shame that you don’t get any sort of case to hold everything together when it’s not in use. I don’t know how long the little collection of driver bits is going to last without one.The plastic case deserves a mention on its own. It gives you somewhere to store the screwdriver when not in use and holds all the bits and accessories tightly. It’s great! As with most drill-drivers, the battery is a separate unit that slides onto the bottom of the handle. It’s charged by its own charger and can take up to six hours to charge. This and the sheer size means it’s not as convenient a tool for basic household DIY, but it’s a brilliant and affordable option when you have something more ambitious in mind. FFX are proud to offer a range of products from Makita, the foremost manufacturer of power tools in the world. With close to 100 years experience, their products are lauded the world over for both their performance and quality. Innovation : Key to Makita's vision is the constant strive for innovation in their technology and their products. From their safety solutions like AVT and dust extraction, through to their Lithium-Ion battery and chargers technology, Makita is at the forefront for new ideas. This is all down to their dedicated research and development centre in Japan, where engineers work hard to constantly improve their products in all aspects, from power consumption through to ergonomic design and function. Battery power, capacity and charge time between use are the most important considerations when choosing a cordless screwdriver. Some electric screwdrivers come with a USB charger too. The battery power is directly proportional to the maximum torque the cordless screwdriver can generate. Having right-angle and offset heads make this the most versatile electric screwdriver for the money.
