Little Darlings is Melanie Golding’s debut novel and is a sharp, unsettling, creepy tale that had me questioning what was real or not the whole way through thanks to its clever structure and execution. The next day, Kate confesses the reason she's suddenly become insistent on Danny Kilman knowing about Destiny is she's worried she might be ill and wants to know Destiny will be looked after if the worst happens. I really felt for Lauren; the isolation, how tired she was and how she struggled to adjust to life with two new-born babies to look after. Influenced perhaps too much by tales of elves and changelings, Lauren slowly becomes convinced that someone – or something – is trying to replace her babies with their own. when the day comes Destiney and her mum go to her dads house but as he is a popstar they are very quiet.

Once she leaves hospital, her fears don’t dissipate and things really ramp up when her babies are abducted. Much as I'm reluctant to resort to book-marketing cliches, Little Darlings really feels like it could be the thriller of the summer; I've already witnessed some buzzing about it on social media. We all want to protect our children from the harsh side of the real world for as long as we can, which is why I think horror movie makers want to thrust them into all that darkness and ugliness and dial it up to 11, all designed to invoke a visceral reaction.Destiny's striking resemblance to Danny and her amazing singing voice convince Danny, Rose-May, and Debs she's Danny's daughter, and they decide they can use it as a publicity stunt to distract from the recent bad press Danny's been getting for running off with Lizzie "Big Mouth. Destiny and sunset are both excited by this prospect as sunset(the rich one) has a famous dad singer who welcomes destiny. As the novel progresses and more exciting events occur, we also obtain the POV of Detective Sergeant Joanna Harper who takes an unexpected interest in the potential abduction of her twins that Lauren initially reports to the police.

One day, Destiny and Sunset met and Destiny started telling Sunset that her father was actually her father too. At the first run of the talent show, the judges panel is made up of students and it is treated like a popularity contest. Let’s be clear, there’s no way I could have read this novel when I was a new mom—it’d be too disturbing, and I’d be waaaaay too freaked out. Similarly, Detective Harper's challenge to pursue her gut instincts that contradict her boss's rules and plans makes her another compelling character that I appreciated following. Debs, the producer arrives the next day to see if Sweetie can sing, but as she's about to she loses her first tooth and starts crying.She has optimistic and goofy character, however, she is also sensitive to all of the sadness spreading around the house.
