Description

First, like other AEM UEGO gauges, this device is designed with 100% patented digital technology. In this case, it features X-Digital technology, hence the ‘X-Series’ phrase in its name. Typically, there are only 2 types of air fuel ratio gauges; wideband and narrowband. In comparison, wideband gauges provide a higher performance level than their narrowband counterparts. To do this you could calibrate your fuelling as normal and once the map is profiled (Target AFR as such) copy the values into a Custom Map against RPM and Load (basically a copy of your fuel map if your MAF scaling is correct and your fuel map actually matches your true AFR). The solution to this problem is getting a wideband gauge, however, still, make sure the voltage offered from the vehicle is within the range of the gauge. On top of that, this gauge is fitted with one of the most accurate oxygen sensors out there; Bosch LSU 4.9 sensor!

Unfortunately, it’s a little difficult to determine how well the gauge will work before installation. AEM's legendary Digital Wideband O2 AFR UEGO Gauge is a wideband UEGO air/fuel ratio controller (AFR) and gauge in one. It unites accuracy, speed and control with an easy to read, digital LED display and sweeping LED "needle" that changes colors as AFR changes from rich to lean. Finding the best Air Fuel Ratio gauge can be a lot harder than you would expect. Especially if you don’t know the exact aspects you should be looking for when buying one. Now, the illuminated needle makes it very simple for the users to read the values, while the lens makes sure there’s less stress on your eyes. If the scanner PID displays a "lambda" or " equivalence ratio," the reading should be 1.0 under stoichiometric conditions. Numbers above 1.0 indicate a lean condition while numbers below 1.0 indicate rich mixtures. The ECM uses the information from the sensors to adjust the amount of fuel being injected into the engine, so corresponding changes in the short-term fuel trim (STFT) PID(s) should also be seen. Lean mixture readings from the AFR sensor will prompt the ECM to add fuel, which will manifest itself as a positive (or more positive) short-term fuel trim percentage. I barely moved it at all in the “richer” direction, and it made a huuuuge difference in the manners and response of the motor. This facility will allow you to read the values with utmost ease, all thanks to its digital segments and LED radial bar graph, which will exceed your expectations.

So, first things first, what you need to know is what the AFR stands for. It is basically the amount of air with respect to the amount of fuel used. As such, if the AFR gauge reads at 14.7, that means that it is using 14.7 parts of air per one part fuel. No. There is a laser-etched, calibrated resistor in the sensor’s connector body. This resistor is specifically created for the exact sensor that it is attached to. Modifying this will invalidate the sensor’s output. To be precise, this unit has a wide air-fuel mix sensing range of around 10 to 20 AFR. And since it’s laboratory-calibrated, this gauge doesn’t need free air sensor calibration.On the other hand, the product comes with an innovative technology that allows it to read values and numbers that its other counterparts cannot.
