I'll be recommending this book to all of my Christian friends that might be considering therapy, and even those that may have never thought of it. It really helped me understand more about mental health and there was one chapter which really helped/resonated with me personally. I taught my dad everything he knows about manscaping… the facing back to front on the toilet – sorry to be so graphic!

Are You Really Ok? by Roman Kemp | Goodreads Are You Really Ok? by Roman Kemp | Goodreads

In the documentary, Roman travelled around the UK meeting suicide attempt survivors and mental health experts. At the after-party for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee this year, he was in the throne room at Buckingham Palace when he bumped into Kate. The book is laid out into different types of mental health issues and therefore I skipped some sections that I would have found triggering. I think she has a real talent at creating a comfortable environment for people to talk about themselves.

Are they really OK? Ask them today - R U OK? Are they really OK? Ask them today - R U OK?

By reporting on and sharing these experiences, we can all learn more about mental health and hopefully care in this area can be further improved. This is a great primer on both holistic health and the general process of recovering from past hurts and trauma. In the church we can be guilty of looking for spiritual solutions to physical or emotional problems. Useful discussion too of using journaling well and thoughtfully, and some directive discussion or think through questions at the end of each section.I am thrilled Debra has written such a helpful resource that unpacks what it looks like to pursue emotional, spiritual, mental, and physical health.

The youth channel has form for unearthing fresh documentary talent - from Stacey Dooley to Professor Green, from Reggie Yates to Jesy Nelson. Sometimes it may only take a quick look at your vitals and levels to see where you’re at and do some adjusting that way that may help you before considering anxiety or depression meds. I both cried and laughed through this (and gritted my teeth through the Arsenal parts, well i am a Man Utd fan 🤣🤣) thank you Roman for opening my eyes and making me see anxiety can hit everybody differently. My whole world upside down' Roman Kemp on heartfelt inspiration for mental health book ROMAN KEMP has announced the release of his new book Are You Really Ok? If you are worn-out from years of faking fine and are ready to address some hard truths, Debra Fileta wants to help. Kemp concluded that to stop young men suffering needlessly in silence, mental health needs to be destigmatised. Being in a small group at church is vital, and depending on what you are walking through, medicine might be too.

For me I was really struck by the way she just went 'This Trans lad' - like it was so normal to her and she was so kind and understanding with it and it felt genuine. The breadth of support groups and services working tirelessly to help people who are suicidal is amazing, but the statistics and frequency of suicide attempts and completions discussed in the documentary are shocking and underline the need for the word ‘emergency’ in the programme’s title. Roman Kemp, 29, has been very open about his battle with depression, more so after he lost his best friend Joe to suicide in 2020. When we catch up with Roman, 29, he is soaked after motorcycling home in a downpour from Fearne Cotton’s house, where he’d been recording for her wellbeing podcast.I understand that Dooley needed to add her thoughts because otherwise the book would read like a transcript but it just didn't really work for me and sometimes took away from the book. I do like that Debra emphasizes that there is nothing wrong with doing therapy and taking anti-anxiety/anti-depression meds, but I think she fails to acknowledge that some issues can be resolved by getting a physical and blood work done by a doctor.
