Emma Thompson's much too rapid narration sometimes left little time to appreciate the wit and snark of the story; I didn't like the sound of my beloved Henry Tilney here

Because their heroines are women who embody freedom and the importance of being oneself. Women who are proud of being women and who insist on their rights and their role in society.Emma is perfectly content with her life and sees no need for either love or marriage; nothing delights her more than matchmaking her fellow residents of Highbury. But when she ignores the warnings of her good friend Mr. Knightley and attempts to arrange a suitable match for her protegee Harriet Smith, her carefully laid plans soon unravel and have consequences that she never expected.

Emma & Northanger Abbey: In case you missed it, this collection includes Emma & Northanger Abbey with Emma Thompson that were previously released in 2018 and 2017. They are superb, and have been richly discussed already. This historic former home of Austen was the birthplace of her six beloved novels and has now been transformed into a museum for people to learn about her life and celebrate her works. Sense and Sensibility - The first of 6 dramatizations of Jane Austen's books. The cast kept the book moving and enjoyable. Elinor and Marianne Dashwood's adventurers into love and society are the focus of this novel. Of course, there must be a male villain, John Willoughby, and a hero (of sorts) named Col. Brandon. A beautiful boxed set of seven Hardcover Classics by Jane Austen, including Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Emma, Persuasion, Mansfield Park, Northanger Abbey, and Love and FreindshipThis rose was first unveiled to the public at the 2013 edition of RHS Chelsea Flower Show to mark 200 years since the publication of the famed book, which has gone on to sell millions of copies. Pride and Prejudice: better than the first story because I enjoyed the main story and characters more. Aside from Lydia... I do not care for Lydia. One voice irritated me beyond patience, the one for Isabella Thorpe in Northanger Abbey, which in itself needs to be higher on the list of Austen's humour and commentary on "modern" novels. Isabella, voiced by a Lily Cole (unsure if it's the model & author) who is raspy voiced and sounded like she was wearing the largest most ill fitting braces on her teeth, her voice was grating like the sound of a fork scraped across an aluminium plate. It doesn't help that Isabella is also a detestable character, but the voice made it worse! Henry Tilney however was brilliantly voiced and indeed I think he's one of the funniest leading men of Austen's work. Jane Austen was an English novelist whose works of romantic fiction, set among the landed gentry, earned her a place as one of the most widely read writers in English literature, her realism and biting social commentary cementing her historical importance among scholars and critics. In that time, more than 1 million guests have flooded through the doors to learn about Austen’s life.

A remarkable journey of colour can be seen on each blooming beauty, as the almost perfect white petals darken gently to cream with a subtle peach glow in the centre. A wonderful aspect many rose growers look forward to from their blooms is the delectable smell that they produce during the summertime, and the ‘Jane Austen’ certainly does not disappoint, as it releases a strong fragrance with hints of lilac. This rose was another to be launched at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show and was one of Harkness Roses’ new varieties presented in 2019.

A welcome addition to any garden, ‘Sense and Sensibility’ produces wave after wave of blooms throughout the summer months, even into the first weeks of autumn.

Named after arguably Austen’s best-known novel, a particularly special rose is needed to be the namesake of ‘Pride & Prejudice’. Austen introduces us to the Dashwood sisters who upon the death of their father are left with little money, status or their family home. Marianne wears her heart on her sleeve and when she falls in love with the dashing but unsuitable John Willoughby she ignores her sister Elinor's warning that her impulsive behaviour leaves her open to gossip and innuendo. Meanwhile Elinor, always sensitive to social convention, is struggling to conceal her own romantic disappointment.Few novelists have conveyed the subtleties and nuances of their own social milieu with the wit and insight of Jane Austen. Through her vivacious and spirited heroines and their circle, she painted vivid portraits of English middle-class life as the eighteenth century came to a close. Fanny sounded either petulant, bratty, or hysterical to me. Edmund also sounded really dull (as he is...) Centred around the Bennet family, their five unmarried daughters and their mother’s desperation for at least one of them to make a wealthy match to save the family from destitution. When Charles Bingley moves into nearby Netherfield, it seems that Jane, the eldest, may have found her match, but it also introduces Elizabeth to Bingley’s friend, the aloof Mr Darcy. Jane Austen, the Brontë sisters, Louisa May Alcott… Timeless Classics offers you a superb selection of novels that revolutionised the female universe.
