I really like the look of the Triumph 19, the shoe has a classic vibe to it, a very sleek looking running shoe with some eye-catching colors. The triumph weighs in at 10.6 ounces (300g), which is still a midweight to slightly heavy shoe in my opinion, but Saucony has seen the light that less is more and the Triumph 19 lost nearly a full ounce since version 18. That’s right, welcome to the latest episode of the Saucony Deja Vu Tour! Triumph 18 fans are about to be very happy, because this shoe is incredibly similar to its predecessor, with the biggest change being the weight loss - which is substantial. But we’ll get more into that down below.

The upper material is thinner and covered with venting perforations making this shoe much more enjoyable to run in than past versions. Extra laces for added color Adding to the padding is a removable 4.6mm plush insole just extenuating the shoe’s soft landing feel. It’s not a race shoe and won’t instill confidence to run lightning-fast splits, it’s not the Endorphin Speed or Pro, but it’s smooth as butter and consistent under every step. The most notable change is the weight. The Triumph used to be rather heavy, but Saucony managed to trim down the upper. As a result, the shoe is an ounce lighter(30 g)! The upper didn’t lose anything with the redesign. If anything, it’s more breathable and more comfortable. A substantial lightening of the shoe, making it more competitive with other models like Puma Velocity, whose upper is lined with an inner sleeveRenee: The outsole is enough to provide durability and some traction off pavement without being obstructive on pavement. Although it won’t provide a trail-shoe-like grip on gravel, it does run very well on gravel roads. The improvement is clear from one version to another. The Triumph 19 is much lighter with a more breathable upper. Unless you can find an unbeatable deal on the Triumph 18, we recommend the latest model. Your feet will thank you! Saucony Ride 14

There are a few small things that I don’t quite understand about this shoe. For example, I (and it seems like society) would’ve preferred a flared heel counter, which is industry standard now. Also, it just feels like this shoe should have a pull tab. I’m not a tab addict like some runners out there, but it definitely would have a spot on this one. Dr. David Salas is a 135 lb male with notable PRs ranging from 3:54 in the 1500m to 1:08:36 for half marathon. He typically runs 60 to 70 miles per week and trains from about 7:30 recovery runs to fast shorter efforts at 4:30 pace. He normally prefers neutral shoes with a firmer ride, but is completely open to other types of shoes. He is a footwear enthusiast at heart and will always appreciate a high quality shoe when it comes around. For updates on training or testing, IG handle: @docsofrundavid It’s smooth yet somewhat energetic. It’s not overly peppy like the Endorphin. The ride feels cushy more than bouncy, but the end result is happy feet no matter how you describe it. The Triumph 19 comes with a second set of colorful yellow laces if you want a bit more pizzaz. Not a big deal, but a nice touch. Thumbs up for night running Renee: Again, Jermey and Jeff have all the specs covered. I found the midsole on the “soft” side with some bounce in the ride. I found the midsole comforting instead of mushy. I like the traditional ride (i.e. no Speedroll) when running off-pavement, so the midsole provides a good balance of usage for me.At the rear, the heel counter is rigid and padded, while the heel collar provides a snug fit for a soft foothold. The gusseted tongue is less padded than on the previous version (presumably to shave some more weight), but it doesn’t impact the comfort. The Velocity is clearly biased towards the more dynamic side of the spectrum and is lighter by 1 oz, but I find that its heel EVA layer kind of mitigates the otherwise fantastic Nitro foam. Some reviewers welcome the use of recycled materialsin this upper. There’s certainly a demand for more carbon-neutral footwear in general (for information, Brooks did it with its Ghost 14,which is carbon neutral, in addition to being 100% vegan). Even if Saucony doesn’t provide the exact amount of ecological materials used in the upper, it’s still a welcome initiative. Jeff: I know we’ve said it a few times in the last six months, but this year’s shoe is virtually identical to last year’s shoe under foot. Busting out the calipers, I can’t find a difference in proportions anywhere, and it’s easy to see that they are incredibly similar. The shoe has no real cons for me, aside from being a bit heavier than I prefer, even for long easy runs which is a personal preference; the weight does mean the shoe has good cushion and durability-Renee

Saucony Triumph 19 | Direct Running

Reebok Floatride Energy Grow Review- We look at the one of the most sustainable shoes in the market today and dive into the world of castor bean usage Renee: The Triumph 19 is a great option for a long, easy/slow day shoe, especially for runners who prefer traditional riding shoes that are stable. The weight is a bit heavier than I would prefer as compared to some other options, but the cushioning is nice without feeling mushy. Plus, the shoe’s geometry and outsole make it durable and useful for pavement and buffed gravel/dirt surfaces. On the Triumph, this color scheme is only visible on a little part of the heel collar, where the inside mesh is sewn with the external one, making for a discrete touch of fun on an otherwise very classic-classy looking shoe. As my age grows.. I tend to be less sectarian on shoes and begin to appreciate a bit more cushioning, and some “easier” shoes. And I discovered that the Triumph 19 fit the bill, without being a lazy shoe. That’s all the upper letting light through. And if light is getting through, you can imagine how much air passes through as well. The Triumph 19 continues the Saucony’s streak of comfortable, plush and effective uppers for me, at least in their road shoe department. The Triumph clearly stands up to its reputation of a long distance slipper and I really cannot see something bad to mention about the upper of the shoe. Light, supportive but unobtrusive, I still feel some “foot freedom” which is something I value a lot. KYLE: We all want a smooth ride right? I mean, is there one among us that dislikes a seamless, quiet transition through their gait? I don’t think so. But, can a shoe be too smooth? The Saucony Triumph 19 may be straddling that line. Can there be too much of a good thing? The upper is no match as the T19 achieves a comfier fit with far less materials, and as a consequence, far more breathability, without any compromise on foot hold. KYLE: The Saucony Triumph 19 delivers on the cushioning and has style for days. This would be my easy day/recovery run shoe. While not my first choice for tempo days or workouts, this shoe certainly has a place in your rotation.

Otherwise, the Triumph 19 is simply a better shoe, more comfortable, equally durable, more breathable. And guess what? I was wrong. Like...miles away. Sure they’re plush shoes with a substantial amount of cushioning, but I find them nowhere near soft nor mushy. It has a subtle amount of firmness that makes the run responsive, something I find ideal for a large spectrum of paces, from easy up to training marathon pace. Jeff: And this is where this shoe truly shines. While the midsole does feel a little firmer than some of its modern contemporaries, when out on the run, there’s a smoothness to the cushioning that few shoes on the market have. There’s a little bit of bounce/rebound when you land, but mostly just some nice squish to dull the road. That’s been the Triumph’s bread and butter, and this year’s version does it as well as any of its ancestors. There’s no sinking feeling as you land, so while this wouldn’t be the shoe I’d recommend for your speedwork, if you happen to be wearing them and the run gets fast, you’ll be fine. The little plus appreciated by users: the vertical reflective cage in the heel for safe night runs. Jeremy: As for virtually every Saucony road shoe out there, XT-900 outsole material still perfectly does the job in the Triumph 19.Almost a perfect fit with a secure yet soft foothold from heel to toes, and more than adequate toebox room-Jeremy/Jeff/Renee
