The truth is that the substrate of old memories is located not inside the cells but in the extracellular space. I am a huge fan of The Shell Collector, so was a bit worried when I started reading this collection. In ‘The River Nemunas’, a teenaged orphan moves from Kansas to Lithuania, and discovers a world in which myth becomes real.

And more, AD manages to blend the ordinary with the extraordinary experiences of being alive and blends them seamlessly.
