Description

LDL (Lightweight Drainage Layer) Substrate is the ideal solution for a live environments lowest layer. They offer the best viewing for your animal; they are suitable for damp and humid conditions, are hygienic and easy to clean.

I'd like to set up a 20 gallon long bioactive terrarium, moderately to heavily planted with tropical plants, with dirted substrate (with earthworms, isopods, and springtails). Fortunately, many species stay small for life and can live comfortably in a 20-gallon enclosure or less! To enable personalised advertising (like interest-based ads), we may share your data with our marketing and advertising partners using cookies and other technologies. In the wild, these animals move around within their habitat(from sunlight to shade, or from above to burrows)to regulate their body temperature. Raised bottom frame can be fit a substrate heater; Waterproof bottom makes this 20 gallon tank can be used both as desert terrarium and rainforest tank. However, a larger tank will be better for the crested gecko’s well-being: it will allow your crested gecko to jump around and climb. The drainage layer permits water to flow freely through the substrate layer during misting sessions, which helps to prevent over-saturation over time. However, if you have the choice, it’s much better to get a larger 30-gallon tank, like an Exo Terra terrarium. After going through numerous renovations, this is the latest result incarnation of the 20g vivarium I started building in November.

An adult crested gecko can live in a 20-gallon tank, but only if you keep it alone in the tank (so not with other crested geckos). This unit is not watertight and should not be used for animals that need to have standing water in their enclosures.

As a general rule of thumb, you should aim for an enclosure that is at least 20 gallons in size for an adult Kenyan Sand Boa. I have heard several accounts on here of this happening and one frog attacking and either injuring or eating the other frog! When we look at the standard terrarium sizes for crested geckos (12x12x18 inches and 18x18x24 inches), a 20-gallon long provides a lot of height but a small floor area.

Turning off the personalised advertising setting won’t stop you from seeing Etsy ads, but it may make the ads you see less relevant or more repetitive. If you’d like to file an allegation of infringement, you’ll need to follow the process described in our Copyright and Intellectual Property Policy. So I brought it in, pulled the tank out of retirement (it had become a storage bin of sorts - a rather shameful demise), ramshackled together some houseplants and tried to make the little bugger feel comfortable. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. Since water can flow freely downward, the substrate layer won't be prone to oversaturation which helps extend it's lifespan.

With over a decade on the market, no other specialty brand of vivarium substrate has been so well proven to offer long-term results. Coconut fiber, peat, top soil, and/or potting soil (alone or mixed together) are not acceptable substrates for long term success in a live temperate/tropical vivarium.
