Blade Runner is set in a dystopian future where synthetic humans, known as Replicants, are used as slave labor on off-Earth colonies. It’s been suggested to me by someone who works in the film industry, too, that the film’s negative is unusually thin, and that mistakes were made with the exposure of the original negative - two problems now brought to light as never before by the HDR process.

Fittingly enough, a shot of the THX sign towards the end of the film looks electric blue in 4K and is relatively dull and faded in HD. That is a goof up that should be fixed for all retail copies come release day so the average consumer will only get the 4K disc, The Final Cut Blu-ray, and Disc 2 and Disc 4 of the 2007 set.Divided into three sections ("Inception," "Fabrication" and "Longevity"), fans will find plenty to revel in here. What’s more, the Final Cut version presented here really does feel like the definitive version of Scott’s vision. This is despite the fact that the film’s dramatic neon lighting and many artificial light sources have been given a huge boost in saturation and brightness. enjoy 'Blade Runner' in the form that was originally intended without any of the baggage that came with its earlier incarnations. Warner certainly rights past wrongs for 'The Final Cut' here, delivering a truly splendid new Dolby TrueHD 5. This genre-redefining sci-fi classic was voted one of the 100 Greatest Films of All Time in the Sight and Sound critics' poll.This would have been the perfect opportunity for some sort of behind the scenes retrospective with cast and crew interviews or even one of the new film's many trailers.
