When sharing with an individual or as part of a group, using “I” statements can make a big difference. Gradually we begin to recognize the negative parenting messages from our childhoods that drive our lives. Sobriety is a gift of mercy and grace we receive from our Higher Power just because our Higher Power loves us. We approach prayer and meditation in different ways … Some commune with nature and the outdoors; some say words like ‘serenity’ and ‘love’ to feel quiet within; some use affirmations to bring their higher power into their thoughts; some kneel in quiet repose; some sit and breathe deeply; and some use self-talk to connect with themselves and their higher power.The ACA World Service Organization asks that you update them with the contact info of the radio stations or other places where these are sent. The day I realized willpower and knowledge had little or nothing to do with sobriety was the day I understood powerlessness.
