The equipment system gives a fun simulation of loot from video games, and the class system is pretty impressive in how different each character feels. The scenarios are varied and do a good job showing off the fun parts of Massive Darkness 2: enemies, bosses, items, and hero abilities. Each of the scenarios in the book will challenge players in different ways, testing their mettle against the enemies run by the game itself.

Yet with the way equipment is random, and what skills players pick, characters can end up completely different with some fun skills.

Massive Darkness 2’s boss fights are fun and intimidating thanks to the epic boss miniatures, but they’re not on the same level as, for example, Dark Souls: The Board Game’s boss fights, which features both epic miniatures and great gameplay.
