For that matter, I don't think either Sailor or Pilot sound particularly classy as brand names; but they have earned brand recognition from hobbyists, and positive association with quality or even middle-class luxury, over the past decades in their respective century-long histories. While I’m enjoying using this as my pen in my Hobonichi Weeks, it hasn’t yet dethroned the TWSBI Eco as my got to pen of choice.

If true, then the A1 seems an ethical iteration in a direction Pilot themselves are uninterested in. I’ve installed the colors of my favorite inks (Diamine’s Earl Grey and Kyo-no-oto’s Aonibi) in GoodNotes’ pencil tool. As far as the ones Moonman/Majohn has done, I thought the most blatant was actually the Moonman F9, if that's what you meant by ‘worst’ (not by product quality or performance, but sheer brazenness).

I’ve also experienced far less ink “burping” as compared to open eyedroppers, where a mass of ink will come through the feed and drip into the page. The Majohn A1’s arrival on Tuesday sparked an evening of nib tuning and assuring my partner that I am, in fact, not bleeding — despite copious amounts of Candy Marsala on my fingers. So seeing the Majohn name where it could have exhibited the less confronting Moonman name is hardly something to fear. You only need to press lightly with one hand, and the tip will appear, saving you the trouble of screwing and removing the tip.

This is good to know because if you have seen or held a Pilot Capless (also referred to as Vanishing Point) you have held or seen the A1. Well, for one, there are some not too satisfied owners of the Pilot Capless out there who find there nib units not up to satisfaction – some have enjoyed the possibility to add a smooth steel nib.

But, I need to be convinced that the slightly larger size works well enough for me to be happy to use it every day. To reduce the risk of fire, never leave vintage electrical or electronic products plugged in unattended.

T/A Modernique [Reg: 5010122] is a company with high-skilled and well-experienced management and staff, who have achieved technical and commercial experience during the past years. This is a very nifty design and really marries a ballpoint pens functions to a fountain pen and retaining the writing and nib specifics of a fountain pen.

The A2 is a slimmer, faceted version of the A1 that is slimmer, lighter, and made almost entirely of plastic on the outside.

There’s room for roughly one sample vial’s worth of ink in the main compartment, with a smaller sealed compartment just behind the feed.
