But does she at least feel guilty and realize that her complete foolishness put everyone in deadly danger?No character is unrealistic, our “unnaturally beautiful other” characters are terrifyingly inhuman and can twist their heads on their necks like owls, our “plain Jane” main character is not “clumsy cute” she embarrasses everyone around her and is so socially awkward she has made only two friends by the end of the first book.

The setting is so interesting, I almost wish the story were just about Ophelia hopping from Ark to Ark, learning about them all. That is what attracted me to it at the first, it sold the premise and it didn't disappoint as I read.
