At 140-minutes, finishing on a marketing hook feels cheap, the pay-off more expectation rather than satisfaction. It’s hard not to think about where it will sit in history along with films such as Akira, Spirited Away, and The Iron Giant.

A deleted scene that originally featured Miles meeting Miguel much earlier gives some of the supporting spiders more lines, but was best omitted. It somehow manages to do the seemingly impossible and delivers an outstanding follow-up to the perfect ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ (you can also read my glowing Blu-ray review of that film HERE) and actually manages to somehow outdo it with a sequel that’s even better than its outstanding predecessor. When not involved in screen-tearing, intentionally glitching, multi-style action, Across the Spider-Verse knows how to keep the imagery compelling through dialog. In reviews today, Stephen has taken a great in-depth look at Terry Gilliam’s acclaimed Time Bandits (1981) in 4K Ultra HD from the Criterion Collection. Astonishing in its vibrancy and color, Across the Spider-Verse is, forgive the unintended pun, a marvel to look at.
