This transformer is ideal as it comes in plastic bracket - i wanted to get ring doorbell instead of old Deta chime - this transformer is narrow you can fit it inside old chime once guts of old one are removed. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. The ring video door bell will be taking power continuously and thus a transformer intended for normal door bells may not be suitable as a power supply to a video door bell system. Or is it better to feed the new CU from the mains input of the old CU and have an RCD in the new CU instead of the isolator switch?

This transformer is very easy to install if you know how to wire your consumer unit box, but I recommend using a qualified electrician if you're not familiar with consumer units. When the bell box is replaced for the Ring transformer and it's housing module, then does the same apply or should that be placed up high on the wall?Maybe get the wiring to the front door where the Video doorbell eventually go and have that fed to the Consumer Unit box and a spare location, or to near a plug point and get the Ring Doorbell with Plug Adapter You could then wire the bell wire to the plug adapter cable ends. So I have recently installed one of these, replacing a very old transformer hardwired Friedland doorbell. To be fitted in a consumer unit, you would mount it at the end of the DIN rail with a shortened busbar and provide a feed using independant wires via the mcb previously mentioned.

Unfortunately i don't have enough space in my consumer unit to house it (it needs 2 slots, i only have 1 ).Your best bet is to plump for the Rong Pro2 doorbell now and go for the hardwired option, as installation would be like for like to a registered sparky. Read more about the condition New: A brand-new, unused, unopened and undamaged item in original retail packaging (where packaging is applicable). The tricky part is if the transformer is in the Bell Box, then you have 240v feeding in at that point. The Ring support site and product naming is absolutely atrocious and my electrician has not been able to advise me.

There are reviews that criticise it for not being compatible with the standard consumer unit busbar. Standard features such as instant notifications, live view and two-way talk are available out of the box and for free on all Ring devices. com/p/mk-sentry-4-module-unpopulated-enclosure-only-consumer-unit/6563p and other brands likewise, some can be purely 2 way. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. This is an ac/dc 'power supply' and although designed to mount on a DIN rail, it should be fed via a mcb. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. This seems to be the most future proof solution as bell wire will probably be usable by any future system while the rest of it could be switched out easily. this way i think the 24VAC will be protected by the RCD and MCB in the main consumer unit, and can be isolated by the switch in the additional CU if required.

I installed a transformer by my consumer unit that is 24v / 500mA DC, but Ring are saying this isn't correct and i need an AC transformer plus the separate power pack which i think converts from AC to DC). Hardwire compatible Ring Video Doorbells using your existing doorbell wiring, for non-stop power and protection. The reference standard EN 61558-2-8 does not specify a specific time but states “Bell and chime transformers are generally intended to supply domestic sound signalling equipment and other similar devices where the load is applied for short periods of time. i don't have a wired doorbell at the moment, so don't need to do any of the work to an existing doorbell. Could I not simply replace the current transformer (shown in green in my picture above) with a new one? Will the Honeywell Ding Dong 117 work with the Doorbell Wired when powered by the DIN Rail Transformer (2nd Gen), or should I be using a different chime in the UK? So I think I am correct in thinking that the 2 people at Ring that I was speaking to actually have no idea what they are actually talking about, and the set up that I have implemented should work fine. Your Ring Video Doorbell Pro requires a power source that supplies a minimum of 16 volts AC at ~20 volt-amps when connected directly to a transformer (supplied) or plug-in adapter.
