We advise you to update to a currently supported browser (such as Chrome, Edge, or Firefox) to improve your security, speed, and overall experience. Its easy playability, quality construction, and beefy humbucker-driven tone make it a prized starter electric guitar. These famous pickups provide a warm tone in the neck position, and a slightly hotter tone in the bridge/lead position.

It has better hardware(tuners) and it’s more comfortable to play, but the Les Paul VE is more versatile overall. This Epiphone LP does a brilliant job of re-creating the character of its high-end counterparts without breaking the bank. Their heights are a bit uneven over the course of the fretboard, which caused some buzzing when I first played it. I hooked it up to my Roland Micro Cube GX and tested it out in all 3 pickup configurations in lots of different styles. The Les Paul Special VE comes standard with the legendary Locktone™ Tune-o-matic bridge and Stopbar tailpiece for easy set up.

Epiphone have paid great attention to detail on this guitar, including the traditional pearloid "Dot" inlays along the fretboard, making it easier to find notes and chords. Also, some of the frets 'buzz', but I have greatly improved it's performance by raising the bridge slightly (low E side) and adjusting the truss rod just a bit.

In addition to the look and sound, all Epiphone guitars come with a Limited Lifetime Warranty which ensures that you are investing in a quality product. The Les Paul Special VE features Epiphone’s world famous open-coil humbuckers with a warm 650R in the neck position and a slightly hotter 700T in the bridge or lead position. I spend my spare time exercising and hanging out with my wife and crazy dog(I guess that went the right way…). So whether you’re a musical newcomer or a seasoned stage vet, let’s see what this heritage Epiphone can offer you. Epiphone might have cut a few corners in other areas, but at least they gave us the best fretboard a guitarist can ask for.The easiest solution to this problem is simply to raise the action, so I did that to get rid of the fret buzz. It's hard sometimes to put aside our preconceptions about the "other" stuff, whatever that may be, and look at it with an open mind. Poplar is a much more affordable wood, yet still offers a great deal of clarity and warmth and does a great job of emulating the role of a Mahogany body.

Considering the Les Paul Special VE is pretty much a direct competitor to Squier's new Bullet Mustang, I should say that the Epiphone and Les Paul decals look much better than the flat black logo on the Squier, which was one of my gripes. If you’ll allow me to go on one more personal tirade, I should say how eye opening, and strange this review has been for me.Our site uses high-level SSL encryption technology, the most advanced security software currently available for online transactions. Aside from the bad tuning machines I already mentioned, I only found a couple of other things wrong with this guitar. With few notable exceptions, like hand made custom guitars, absolutely ALL new guitars require set up. On the body of the guitar, you’ll the legendary Locktone Tune-O-Matic Bridge and Stopbar tailpiece allowing for quick set ups and perfect intonation.

I still have to twink and play around with this lady to see how it performs connected to an amp and evaluate other alterations it needs if any. Some guitars are marketed as 'beginner' instruments, but they are perfectly useable and play and sound good. If you have any recommendations, tips, or feedback, just leave a comment, I would love to chat with you.I’m not sure what the nut is made of, and after checking, Epiphone didn't list it on their site, but mine is cut well. This is the go-to guitar for those who want to learn on a Les Paul-style guitar but don't want to break the bank.
