Although I’m rarely seen using a wet palette in my videos, I do often use one in the preparatory stages of each tutorial whilst I’m experimenting with colours, and if I ever get the chance to paint for myself (which isn’t as often as I’d like!

The Wavy accessory as mentioned earlier is another nice touch ensuring inks and highly diluted paints can be used in conjunction with the Everlasting Wet Palette whilst avoiding an ever expanding mess. Every time I turned to it, I found myself astonished by how well the palette held the paints on it, and the fact I could abandon the palette for hours at a time, then come back and pick it up again as if I hadn’t been away was unbelievably convenient. After one week, the paints I had on the palette were still not dried out and there was little pooling of water.

Some time ago I was contacted by Redgrass Games to ask if I’d be interested in trying out a prototype for their new “Everlasting” wet palette, which is in it’s final days on Kickstarter, and having now used the palette for a couple of weeks I would like to share my thoughts with you on the product. Nonetheless, if you’re careful and take care of your stuff, I think this won’t be a problem for most of you. Personally, my painting space is a little on the smaller side, so I think I actually prefer the smaller palette, purely for the fact that it takes up less space on my desk, but if you're not limited by that then larger is definitely the way to go. The surface of the palette paper, with it is special formulation, insures the paint will not dry out or run together and will continue to flow naturally, remaining perfectly workable for days and even weeks.

This wide selection of colours was from when I first used the Wet Pallette v2, and in my attempt to use it as quickly as possible, I used it incorrectly.It is adjustable to fit a variety of different sized hands and fingers, and it is easy to rotate the top of the handle to get better access to all sides of the model. Also, is it too much to ask for the paper to fit flush against the edges of the pallette (there is about a 5mm gap the whole way around). Well, a few weeks ago, the FH team utterly ruined painting and this joke for me forever by telling my the two thin coats philosophy is bogus and if I ever want to improve my painting, I had to start applying around half a dozen thin coats to my miniatures. You can rotate the paint holder top smoothly 360 degrees with a single hand/finger which gives you better access to all sides of the model as you paint it. Acrylic paint is, by nature, a substance that dries quickly once out of its pot: you leave it for a few minutes on a palette and bam, solid.

This can be helpful, especially if you are new to painting miniatures, as it can be difficult to hold the miniature steady when you don’t have a good grip on it.

While a soft brush help avoid damaging the palette paper, I found that the hydration membrane for the Everlasting wet palette was very durable. It's big enough that there's enough room on the palette for several areas of paint, but not so overly big that it takes up too much space.
