One conversation with 𝐖𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐞 (H) her brother’s rival makes her forget about the decades long rivalry between their two towns. Sometimes, I felt like the rivalry between the two towns was a little overplayed--because surely, there isn't anything really like that--but I wasn't born and raised in a small town--so maybe it is. Those reasons have never made sense, though, and they’ve become sillier and sillier the more time I’ve spent with Maeve. As well, there were a few times where Mauve or Weston would mention something that happened between the two of them, but it was like off the record. Wes saw her for her lifelong achievements, her running in the morning, extra time spent every second on the soccer field.

The MMC is equally genuine and well rounded with his own set of issues but it gives the book context and vibe. They got it together by the end but it was still shocking to see everyone care more about the rivalry than two people who were in love. I absolutely had the time of my life reading this because it reminded me of the Wattpad stories I’d read during math class lmao. I especially liked that before any attraction was there, they both felt like they could talk to each other about their messed up home situations. As abruptly as it ended, with Maeve and Wes standing in solidarity, that it's their love and nothing should come between them, I would have liked to have seen what the reaction would have been for their schools in the future, as well - if they would be as accepting and forgiving as they thought they would be. They confided in each other about the ways of the world, about the issues they faced, and I think if they had been any different in their characters their roles, they never would’ve shared it. Her success was so overly looked, she won, she played she was involved and they overlooked her like she was nothing.

Maeve- daughter to the home team’s football coach AND twin sister to Liam, their home team’s starting quarterback; double whammy! One glimpse of her viridian eyes makes me forget about the decades-long rivalry between our two towns. There was a healthy balance between all three storylines that successfully showed how each was vital to the other.Seeing Maeve gain the courage to stand up for herself and earn her father's respect and attention was a rewarding moment and for Wes to see that even under the veneer of his parents' unsatisfactory marriage, there were still the hints of love that tethered them together.

I really liked it was really good the way that early bread crumbs in the story are used to close parts of the narrative in a really good way. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, although I would've liked to see more of the couple's established relationship after all was set and done. When our paths cross again senior year, that knowledge becomes even more dangerous than his suggestive smirk. I felt like she had more commitment and dedication to their relationship, while Wes was just: there.Wes and Maeve met in secret majority of the time but I adored when she came to the final game in his jersey to support him 💞💘. First, they never really talked about where they stood, he just ignored her, said some mad hurtful shit to her, then told her to leave.
