The book is probably best for younger readers in 20s or 30s, and I would describe it as a comforting fantasy in a way - that everything will work out just fine, whatever your doubts. I don't tend to read this kind of genre much, unless it features queer characters and might be doing something interesting, so the writing style was also not quite for me, with some forced, cheesy dialogue, but I imagine some fans of the genre will probably enjoy that more. I'm not perfect, but I hope when I'm not here that the people I love will remember me for the good things and know I did my best for them. And, well, it is sweet but oh, it's really charming and despite myself I found myself giving into it. It's so frustrating that it's not just a fantasy element contained within the pages of a fictional book.

Arthur is 79 but has decided it is time to tell his children that he and his wife are now separated and he is gay. When he isn’t writing, Ryan can be found tweeting, watching – and playing – Countdown or enjoying cuddles with his two golden retrievers. A beautiful read…I picked up Arthur and Teddy Are Coming Out by Ryan Love to take with me on a weekend away.

It's been a while since I read a story where we're asked to sympathise with the nepo baby over the guy who had to work for his job.

In a sense, it is both central to the story, and totally irrelevant that Arthur and Teddy are gay, because this is a story about love, life and being true to yourself that is pertinent to every reader, regardless of their sexuality or age. I loved the idea of this book when I read the blurb, and I was super excited to receive an ARC of it, but I have to admit, I found it really disappointing. The overarching theme of the book however is acceptance, kindness, forgiveness and love so while this might not be everyone's cup of tea, fans of well-written, easy, contemporary fiction will love it. Too often, queer literature is enjoyed only by the LGBT+ community, but this is a novel ready to be loved by the masses. I know I am very blessed to have had a good life, but you deserve to have the best life, the one you really want, not the one other people think you should have.

The bond between Teddy and Arthur is amazing, and you can really see both of the men grow into even more amazing human beings.Big thank you to Harlequin for sending me an advanced copy of this book, it has been nothing short of a joy to read this. Teddy, whines throughout, Ben is a pantomime villain, Shaquille (I listened to the book so don't know the spelling) was a sad-eyed, love-sick puppy on the sidelines and don't get me started on the rest of the homophobic locals who have a change of heart when it suits. Ben, for obvious reasons, is less than impressed by this, since he’s had to work hard and pull himself up by the bootstraps to get here (he later reveals he was disowned by his parents for being gay.
