I steered it towards the corner of the garden where there is a pile of rocks from a failed garden landscaping attempt some years earlier. They are small screws that are threaded into ball ends and they could work loose, so I added a tiny drop of threadlock on the link screws to ensure that I would not lose any. I had quite a few topples but each time I got a little further as I aimed to get the truck up the tree trunk.

Anyway it’s just something I discovered and thought I’d share, I wasn’t expecting them to be genuine bead locks at so am fairly impressed, will I use them? The rain had stopped and I was keen to get the Devastator out in the garden to see if it would be able to achieve any sort of off road performance. The big feature of this truck is that it has a range of steering modes so both the front and rear axles are the same with a servo mounted on both of them.I would advise you to ensure that the screws are all tightened (I used threadlock on the screws that hold the links). Here is a topic about a HBX custom build from a German forum back from 2015 ( Google Translate Link). Yeah that would look mean I think they would suit a 1/20 build a bit better, I’ll fit them to my old beat up twin cab Silverado and see how they look on that, it’s 1/24.

Here I started to really see some of the benefit of changing the steering modes as the truck balanced on the edge of a rock and I wanted to turn it to reach onto the dirt. when i connected the battery (battery had been charged a little by the seller), the car can move for about 10cm, and after that, motor wont run anymore, but servos still work normally.I don't want to spend much, but the original body shell looks like you would have change from a quid to produce it, so I am hoping that an alternative would not be too much for essentially a budget rock crawler. Having all of these 4 steering modes available at the touch of a button is something that seems to be unique to the Devastator, and it is something that I am eager to try out! The plug on the charger is a euro 2-pin type but it also ships with an adaptor if you are in the UK or USA. Just wondering if there are body shells out there that will fit and look better (doesn't have to look like a real life vehicle as long as it looks good), and maybe easier to take off to charge and perhaps be made to a higher standard too. Overall it is great fun, not as fast as the Axiel Scx24 but the 4 wheel steering makes it as much fun for us.
