So that was a good start, and there’s plenty of good stuff to come, but first we have to talk about the Annihilation Legion, which…well it tries. Lest something go awry, power must be carefully allocated as required between the three primary Systems of your tomb world – Command, Reanimation, and Translocation. It retains a strong defensive profile, but you can’t now leave it sitting on a home objective and still have the aura reach your whole army.

Bet you cannot guess what this Detachment is aimed for… That’s right, those who love to field a whole bunch of Canoptek units and Crypteks. Soulless Reaper stops a unit from falling back on a 3+ whilst Eldritch Nightmare forces your opponent to take a Battle-shock test on the unit stuck in combat with the bearer’s unit. I think the notable things to highlight here are that the Psychomancer seems pretty decent in this detachment, as he can cause quite a few headaches when zapping round with his Immortal buddies (though they can split up if the opponent has no indirect), and Trazyn/Lychguard seems like a good include too – they can lock in your home objective turn one, then spread out to screen and zap into position down the line when you need a bit of extra pressure. The Necrons have had a pretty good run of 10th Edition thus far, and now they’re rising from their tombs in full splendor, unleashing new detachments and updated rules to reclaim the galaxy from usurpers and old foes alike.

Embark on a journey through time with the Necrons, an ancient race of alien androids who once reigned supreme over the galaxy. A visual feast of artwork, bringing to vivid life the undying Necron legions and their cryptic tomb worlds. Wraiths are the poster children for this, and are thus near locks to be a staple unit, but Lokhusts and Skorpekh both get significantly better now they’re usually on full re-rolls when going on the offence. Any of your Necron units that fire at an enemy unit within range of said picked objective Ignore Cover, which is cool. Aside from the Datasheets, the Detachments are probably one of the most important parts of the new 40k Codexes. Using a Master System ability reboots your Systems, removing D3 Awakening points and deactivating the System bonuses they were powering. The Hexmark has better guns but can no longer shoot for each unit, and is just once a phase one of them gets to shoot option. The Orb of Eternity sends Necron self-repair into overdrive, guaranteeing that the bearer’s unit will animate a full 3 wounds each time its Reanimation Protocols activate.
