I'm going to walk-- very slowly-- in its general direction while pretending I don't actually give a damn (but I do).

To be honest, I do understand that this one is also necessary for her character development and I'm here for that but it better be amazing and good, because if it's not going really well I might flip another table istg- but to review Auren overall, she's a good and amazingly written character.Well, after his face was described in detail lengthily over several pages about his black as midnight irises, black spikes on his back and arms, his strong and straight nose, his bright as fuck white teeth, his cutting cheekbones, his thick black hair and scales like lizard.

The third book better be a huge serve and worth the hype, because I better not wasted my time reading this book just to end up disappointed. I would march out in London streets and protest that they aren't actually creating an imprint to publish these books. Book 1 - not great, drags on a bit, nothing much happens and you'll either just get very annoyed with the main female character for being so pathetic or you'll feel really sorry for her. This is unique to Gild, with the other books, while still being character driven, do have “more going on.

Auren: her character is very hard to explain, she’s shy and bold and sweet and scared all at the same time! So it’s a fantasy series that has taken its inspiration from King Midas I’ll admit I’m only vaguely aware of the Greek tale just the main facts and that it’s an Aesop fable with a hidden message regarding greed and him turning everything to gold but i was intrigued. Literally so many times I had to put the book down and stop reading because of the disturbing scenes like wow does this have all the trigger warnings out there. This book has been on my TBR list for quite some time now, and with all the hype about gold coming out I thought I should really read this series. I mean I don't mind it once in a while, but she instantly put it whenever Auren having monologs in her mind. Everything he does has an alterior motive and as the book progressed I started to really dislike him. I’ve seen a lot about how it’s mostly a prequel and you can skip it, that the real story starts in the second book and that there’s no romance and a fair bit of rapey violence in this one.

Gives a lot of useful details and knowledge about the kingdoms and the characters without infodumping, it rather feels like a captivating dark fairytale being told by a magnificent storyteller. This series has enemies to lovers, found family, morally grey MMC, and ‘burn the world for you’ love, among others. Despite the YA-looking cover, and its striking similarity in title and design to the Marissa Meyer book GILDED (which I keep mixing it up with), this is not a book for the kiddies. I can't wait to read the next book just because I want her to win, I want her to gain her independence and have things work for her. Regret and revenge war inside of me, and I need to figure out a plan fast before I get tangled up in the schemes of kings and queens.
