VERY animalic, lost all floral or sweet notes and was quickly replaced with a very pungent almost dirty scent. The heart is a floral firework with intense and luscious notes of mimosa, neroli, tuberose, gardenia and acacia and a subtle hint of black currant. In my case, however, I don’t think there is a quantity of this fragrance small enough that I might properly enjoy it. Sillage, longevity, strength are all A++ here, perhaps to the detriment of my poor, sensitive nose and that's coming from someone who does often like florals, especially white floral fragrances. When they hugged me after my lessons, usually to give me some encouragement after I’d thrown myself relentlessly against the ice for hours on end, day after day, I remember getting a huge whiff of Amarige. She has broken all the rules and all the barriers through the life, as Amarige has broken the rules in the parfume world. I was fortunate to be able to try out both a newer and an older, possibly vintage, formulation of this fragrance. There was something so sweet and addictive in the scent that I kept coming back to sample it over and over. Anyways, her sweat and mine smell the same, so her logic was that it would also smell good on me if it smelled good on her.The bouquet finishes with the vibrant and muted, yet extremely sensual notes of ambergris, precious woods, musk and vanilla. Ok, keep your expensive gummy glycemic tuberose if your mom is rich or stick to those sickening wannabe-L'Interdit-but-I-can't if you don't find yourself in silks.

The catalyst for intervention was a night I got arrested, caught out late while she was out on a date, hanging out in Hollywood at Swingers Diner with a guy twice my age. It’s also MUCH stronger (like, a pure parfum) than the one I received in its box, also due to evaporation/concentration, and I didn’t even realize until I smelled the “new” bottle that my old vintage, though still gorgeous, has a distinctly stale aged smell to it.Middle notes are gardenia and minosa with ylang-ylang and it finishes with ambergris, musk and vanilla.

It's not a perfume I'd choose myself (it feels a little bit older than something I'd wear as someone in her mid 20s) but it's pleasant and familiar. It's natural and fresh, and I think that alongside whatever other fruit molecules with the "plum" sweeten the experience and make this more than just a flower party.Luckily for us who prefer less horsepower, Givenchy released (probably as an apology) the brilliant green-floral Insensé and the maximally comforting Organza just a couple of years after Amarige.
