A few notes: the green discs these guns shoot aren't hard exactly, but the guns do spit them out at a good clip. I think some sort of a Silicone RTV would work nicely to replicate this, similar to what Ryan/Kane are using on their rubber domes.

The clip holds 10 discs, and the shotgun-like pump action means you can pump out a good number of discs in a very short time. It's probably custom, and so we might not be able to fully replicate it, but I think there must be some bulk-available plastic thing that would substitute. Actually didn't need to use this in my current version of disc-making, but just throwing this out there as a possible mold material. All that said, I think our best bet is to replicate the current discs in a cheap, simple, easy-to-reproduce, way.Once you hit go, the unit will flash for several seconds before firing all the targets, one at a time. There’s a noticeable pause as the launcher registers that there’s another disc in the queue, and then spins up the flywheel again.

I do plan to STFU about my ideas until I actually have a chance to try them out so I can report hard data.It also appears to be connected to the pusher mechanism – I have yet to open the gearbox to see how, exactly. If you’ve already done that, your item hasn’t arrived, or it’s not as described, you can report that to Etsy by opening a case.

I'm not 100% sure what you're getting at here, but I think we're probably not going to see great performance increases out of homemade discs like there have been with stefans/slugs/homemade darts. The launch mechanism itself is a rotating piece, with a motor and three position switches for control. My discs fly best with no extra hot glue, but if yours curve to the left consistently it might be a bit too light. The bumper heads were a hemispherical mold, and the washer had exposed edges and was not consistently centered. Times have changed, and now we have heavy, belt-fed, battery-chugging monstrosities that appeal to cubicle warriors as much as to children. So I am not as young as I used to be but as soon as you pick up one of these, it's like being a big kid again. There is a safety switch on the base, which is supposed to ensure you’re setting it on a flat surface (as opposed to trying to use it like a blaster).

Some of the technologies we use are necessary for critical functions like security and site integrity, account authentication, security and privacy preferences, internal site usage and maintenance data, and to make the site work correctly for browsing and transactions. In fact even his grandparents went out and bought one and spent an evening with family having dinner followed by a Nerf battle around their bungalow (imagine 4 x 60 + grandparents running round shooting at each other with toy guns - just wish I had it on video). This gun has good range, fires discs with enough force to sting in a very slight way, and is fun to use.

Use of and/or registration on any portion of this site constitutes acceptance of our User Agreement (updated 1/1/20) and Privacy Policy and Cookie Statement (updated 1/1/20) and Ars Technica Addendum (effective 8/21/2018). If you’d like to file an allegation of infringement, you’ll need to follow the process described in our Copyright and Intellectual Property Policy. Using cast parts also lends itself to what I think is going to be the most important factor in trying to create homemade disks for these blasters: Repeatability and consistency.
