Personally I like smoky scents and it does not bother me, however, some people could not like the dish soap like opening and smokiness of the Pure Parfum version.Dry-down is where you will spend most of your time with the fragrance, its Sweet-o-Musk-o-Nutty experience that will last easily 12 hours. The scent changes and the performance gets better after spending some time on the shelf, and now I'm in love with CDNIM. Obviously, this is not a general rule, as plenty of colognes last long without having a harsh opening, but these are probably using ingredients that aren't as unpleasant in high concentrations.
