About this deal

It seemed the idyllic setting in which to raise a family and the couple unwittingly moved their five young daughters into the ancient and mysterious farmhouse. Andrea Perron did the next to worst possible thing in writing this disjointed chaos in the third person.

Given the vast majority of the "incidents" described, most are fairly normal for an old house: doors opening and closing themselves, objects appearing and disappearing, moving around, things levitating, clocks stopping, phone ringing when unplugged, pets not wanting to go in, or seeming to react to something unseen by their owners, smells and cold that come and go, hearing footsteps, sensing and seeing presences. She is far too biased and cannot, for the life of her, step outside herself for a moment to present the proper picture. John Arnold decided to claim her life at the age of ninety-three and was discovered, cold and gray, as stiff as the wood from which she was found dangling in the rafters of a barn. I truly feel the Perron family were blessed with the gift of enlightenment and were meant to share this!Often when there was a scary incident and they screamed and banged things for attention, no one else in the house could hear it. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

Since it was over three centuries old, many people had died there over time (although there were an unusual number of suicides I think). Also, what made it particularly difficult to keep reading is the extensive philosophy after the telling of each incident. The subject of the 2013 film “ The Conjuring,” the story of the house in which Andrea Perron spent ten years of her life has been a closely-guarded experience. So going into this review I am giving Andrea and her family the benefit of the doubt that all their experiences are true and honest.

Had life become so intolerable to a beleaguered old soul, the drastic measure appeared to be her only option for retreat? In 1970, Roger and Carolyn Perron purchased what seemed to be the home of their dreams: the Arnold Estate, located just beyond the village of Harrisville, Rhode Island. Chances are they interpreted any etheric energy Lorraine felt as demonic (along with ouija boards and tarot cards). This tale is an inspiring testament to the resilience of the human spirit on a pathway of discovery: an eternal journey for the living and the dead. Perhaps she is the one who tucked the girls in at night, the one who’d loved them well and tenderly kissed their foreheads and smelled of flowers and fruit.

This makes me wonder if perhaps one of the ghosts had been suffocated and was trying to reproduce their own death. Thus began an incredible odyssey; a supernatural excursion through dimensions of time and space as the history of its characters from the ages began to reveal themselves to seven mortals who could not conceive of and never anticipated such events transpiring in our lives. Whether as an act of eternal damnation for an ill-conceived exit from a mortal existence, or as the dire consequence of the premature departure, her spirit lingers still, remaining in her old home place in the country; a farmhouse where she once lived out her days then died by her own hand.In 2007 I began writing the manuscript which has now evolved into the trilogy "House of Darkness House of Light" and relocated (again) to Georgia to be with my family while embarking on such a major project involving all of them as well.

For more than twenty years I was a cast member with The Theatre Company of Rhode Island, performing on the stage of The Assembly Theater, the historic centerpiece of Harrisville. And not just in the house, a cigarette flew through a closed window in the car and burned one of the girls pants, there were chimney fires, and oil burner problems. After six years my mother decided her girls required a place in the country in which to grow and thrive. Some of the events described here ring true while others appear unlikely, even for supernatural events. He presented his friends with the watercolor; painted from memory, in memory of a special house which touched his life as well. This book was all over the place and now I feel like I need to read a gossipy young adult novel to cleanse my literary palate. This book was FULL of repetitiveness, the same tales told from different view points, the same phrases used again and again, like Andrea forget she had already written about a ghostly encounter so she just threw it in somewhere else to make sure. I enjoyed the overall story (not sure how much I believe), but it is sooooooo wordy and quite badly written in some cases.
