About this deal

He talks about the challenges and benefits of meditation, and gave some insight that helped me understand meditation better. How do we have room to carry more and heavier things when all our lives – since the moment we are aware we are conscious – we have been weighed down and scarred by so much? It's also 20 years old, which means much of the discourse he provides is not as relevant or accurate (although the disparity in the number of Black coaches and owners vs white ones is always going to be glaringly obvious).

A fool is certain of everything and the wisest man knows how little he knows - and knows he might be wrong, something the fool doesn’t worry about when he probably is. He talked of visiting heaven and described events that happened before he was born and how he spoke with family members he’d never met. Infusing the everyday with heart, grace and gentle humour, this is a book to help us all navigate the realities of modern life.

The parables that Lindeblad quotes, mainly from the Buddhist tradition (as that was his training) are stories that many of us will have heard told countless times before in one variant or another. Whether you're looking for some textbooks for university, the latest biography or a travel guide - you'll find what you need in our categories. It it too bad he does not stick with a point long enough to provide more details or thought-provoking points for the reader. Try Winnie-the-Pooh's Little Book Of Wisdom by A A Milne and E H Shepard if you're not familiar with the stories. There’s plenty of humour in the initial stages as he talks about the problems he faces as a monk - he doesn’t take himself too seriously.

When the Dalai Lama adds his words to your frontispiece, I'm inclined to think it doesn't really matter how the rest of the world responds to your book. Chapters were often based on wisdom he had picked up along the way from his teachers, and he shared his understanding with us whilst talking about his own life experiences. Overall this book is an easy read which provides an interesting insight into the mind of the ex-player and current pundit.I didn’t expect it to be a musing on the intersection of race, celebrity, and life as a public figure.
