He then joined BBC's Nationwide and was promoted to become head of current affairs at BBC Northern Ireland. However, Cornwell has stated that it will not be about Thomas of Hookton from The Grail Quest or any of his relatives. They’re tons of fun and you don’t have to switch your brain on too much while reading/watching them. Loved ones come and go due to death or desertion, leaving him “in play” for a future damsel in distress. Born in the gutter, raised a foundling, he joined the army twenty-one years ago, and it’s been his home ever since.

It’s so obvious that the publishers were desperate for a new novel that’s what Bernard did, only he wrote it in daze. I was fairly disappointed, don’t get me wrong the ending helps to make the book a bit more enjoyable but there are far too many inconsistencies in this book. Some of the impediments are due to betrayal by presumed allies, and others by the incompetence of British officers. This first ever illustrated edition of Sharpe’s Triumph, produced in series with Sharpe’s Tiger, features a map of India at the time and a battle plan of the fateful conflict, as well as action-packed illustrations by series artist Douglas Smith. His other fiction titles include The Starbuck Chronicles (1993–6), The Warlord Chronicles (1995–7), The Grail Quest Series (2000–12), The Last Kingdom books (2004– ), Azincourt (2008) and Fools and Mortals (2017). This book at times feels like a novelisation of the TV adaptation and it leaves a lot to be desired. I seriously doubt the standard infantryman would have as much know how as what they do in this book with the 'guns'.

Despite its flaws, the book's never not fun and is a quick read that doesn't overstay its welcome which makes it a nice-if-fluffy addition to the series. The protagonist is an archer who participates in the Battle of Agincourt, another devastating defeat suffered by the French in the Hundred Years War.

The bloodthirsty biographies of the world’s most infamous pirates are reproduced in this Folio edition of Captain Charles Johnson’s renowned work, including original woodcut illustrations and a fascinating introduction by Margarette Lincoln.
