About this deal

Just like his playing style, Windass is direct and forceful when it comes to his life story and it makes for a page turning read.

In May 2008, Dean Windass scored the winning goal in the Championship Play-Off Final at the new Wembley, that took Hull City, the hometown club he supported as a boy, into the Premier League. Etsy’s 100% renewable electricity commitment includes the electricity used by the data centres that host Etsy. The local press reported that approximately 25 other applications have been received for the post, including from the club's all-time longest serving player, John McDermott.

Windass credits his wife, Helen, a police officer, also from Hull, with devising his fitness and diet regimes. He won a Division One Player of the Month award, and scored 15 goals in 33 league games in his nine months with the club, but was unable to prevent them from relegation to Division Two at the end of the 1998–99 season. This sent Windass on a path back to Hull (via a couple of other clubs) where he gained prominence by larruping in the goal that took The Tigers to their first season in the Premier League in 2008.

The Champions Speakers agency would like to keep you updated by occasionally sending you newsletters that include info exclusive free events, showcase and entertainment at venues such as The Gherkin, O2 Arena and Wembley. So come along, enjoy a great atmosphere, share the company of one of the club’s living legends and pick up an exclusive version of his brand new book “DEANO: Life after football…. Windass finished the season as both clubs' top scorer, with 12 goals for Bradford City and eight for Hull City. It was his only action during Hull's start to the season, which saw them take 14 points from their first seven games, leading to Windass being frustrated at his lack of first-team action. Disappointed by his lack of first team opportunities, Windass was allowed to leave Hull, and, on 9 January, he joined Oldham Athletic on loan for the rest of the season. With the kind of passion that, in the past, has resulted in numerous red cards, he doesn't hold back on anything in telling his life story and, as a result, it gives you a very real taste of what it's like earning your living in the precarious world of football.

Brutally honest and gives a real insight into Deano the person, rather than just Deano the footballer. By sharing the technology that has grown World of Books Group into the business it is today, we're helping charities increase revenue and reduce waste through re-commerce. He reveals how he was rejected as a teenage apprentice from Hull City and how he felt as if his life was over. Perhaps the most interesting thing about the book is the extent of the ‘Oxford mafia’ that spread across English football during the 90s. Will highly recommend to other club's who ask who we have had as a guest speaker and also pass your details on. He still finished the season as the club's top scorer—his eight goals included three in the UEFA Intertoto Cup and one in a 2–0 victory over Chelsea, which proved to be Hutchings' only league victory before he was sacked in November.
