For lap swimming, head to the 26-metre saltwater vitality poolwhich is bathed in green mood lighting. Swim into the starlit cave at one end of the pool before bubbling away in one of twohot tubsat the other. Relax on a heated lounger afterwards.

For dessert, we tried glazed orange crème brulee. The portions are cleverly designed for spa goers to be able to enjoy three courses without feeling stuffed. The facilities are roughly divided into four areas with the thermal experiences situated near each of the two pools (vitality; hydrotherapy); you'll findtwo treatment areas are a little further along. The setting for Seaham Hall is as expansive as it is exhilarating: the north-east coast (County Durham to be exact). The spa building and facilities are impressive; the treatments superb. The spa journey begins at the fabulous underground walkway that connects the spa to the hotel – walk past pebbles and running water until you reach a huge carved elephant (yep). Inside, there’s an ozone treated pool, a hydrotherapy pool and thermal rooms; head outside for steamy hot tubs. Staff should be polite, friendly and attentive. They should be professional at all times, and focused on you and yourspa experience. You should never experience any snottiness or snobbery from people working at the spa, nor should you ever feel intimidated. It is the job of a spa to make you feel relaxed - friendliness and courtesy is where this starts. Lomi lomi is a traditional Hawaiian massage that uses a combination of massage techniques, nut oils, and sometimes elements of prayer, breathing and dance to restore energy and soothe the body. It is also known as the 'loving hands' massage. This name helps to explain its principles - the massage works gently yet deeply into the muscles with continuous, flowing strokes, allowing the recipient to relax and give in to the nurturing touch. We are delighted to announce the winners of the Good Spa Guide Awards 2021. We'd like to congratulate all of the finalists and winners for their outstanding work in the spa industry, especially after a challenging 15 months. And thank you to our sponsors for helping make the event ( read more about it here) possible. Without further ado... One of the luxuries of any traditional massage is the thought of its geographical origins. Think of lomi lomi as your own little piece of Hawaii, imagine yourself in a treatment room next to miles of sandy beach and feel its holiday-effects work their magic! Afterwards Turning onto my front, the facial element began with a foaming Vitamin Boost Cleanser, a combination of tea tree, vitamin c-rich cherry and Pinot Noir grape extract to rejuvenate tired and damaged skin cells, followed by a spritz of Hydrating Toning Mist. A light exfoliation and detoxifying mask was followed by the application of Pelegrims Facial oil, with its subtly scent of fig and rose.

Your therapist should ask you about your medical history before your treatment begins. It's important to tell them if you are - or think you may be - pregnant. Soft lighting and muted cream and brown hues give this a very restful feel. Subtly combining inside with outside, the sumptuous Spa Garden has a heated infinity-edge outdoor pool where you can experience a hydrotherapy massage before stretching out on the heated contoured tepidarium beds alongside it.
