Description

The LED indicator on Pale Blue batteries turns solid green when they are fully charged (the green light blinks while charging), providing a clear, visible sign that they are ready to use. What’s better is I can recharge things like flashlights wherever I’m at now. My car, work, at an airport. All I need is a cable. Now, if I want to recharge four at a shot I might want to have their 4-pronged recharge cable in tow, but it’s cool.

Millions of batteries get thrown away, every day. Because of how batteries are made, it’s pretty tedious to recycle them. But at the same time, it’s important to do because they’re not exactly biodegradable. Over the span of its lifetime, a single Pale Blue battery could theoretically prevent you from needing to use 1,000 regular batteries.

What I’d change

The Pale Blue also has an advantage that they are charged by a voltage regulating charging circuit. This means that charge time takes only a couple of hours and not the typical eight hours or more to charge a completely dead battery. The Pale Blue also has a circuit that protects the batteries from deep discharge – a condition in which the battery loses a significant portion of its charge holding capacity. The big battery companies want to sell you more batteries, not less. Our goal is to have people buy and use fewer batteries. If 'big battery' were to sell you this type of battery, it would erode their entire business model. CHARGING These batteries have an integrated safety circuit that protects both the battery and your device from common electrical issues such as overload, leakage, short circuit, over-voltage, and high temperature.

Pale Blue now has an offering that while not a new product, seem to be (so far,) as advertised. A micro-USB rechargeable lithium polymer battery that can be reused an estimated 1000 times before it degrades significantly. Cost Of course, even rechargeable batteries will decay over time. It’s just natural decay, like using a pencil will cause the pencil to eventually wear out. These batteries are able to be recharged about twice as often as older NiMh batteries, which were often made to last for about 500 cycles. Though not many of them seemed to last that long because older rechargeable batteries also had issues with overcharge protection. Almost all rechargeable AA and AAA batteries that we all have experience with are NiMh rechargeables. One of the problems with this chemistry for rechargeables is that it has high self discharge. This simply means that the charge goes down on its own when the battery is not in use. So, whether you charge them and put them in a drawer or into a device but don't use it, later when you go to use them, the battery will have less charge. Combine this with the voltage drop that you get when NiMh discharges to a certain level, and the battery suddenly performs poorly and for not as long as you'd expect. The power output of our product is consistently 40% stronger than an equivalent Alkaline and 50% more than a NiMh rechargeable. (Pale Blue holds stronger longer) Protection Circuit: Integrated safety circuit protects battery and device Overheat Protection: Operating at max output the battery will not overheat, this is part of the protection circuit. There are two versions of the Pale Blue Lithium Polymer Smart Batteries: the AA version and the AAA version. For starters, the AA version powers 2.25 watt hours, while the AAA version powers 0.675 watt hours. Each have 1.5V, similar to an alkaline AA/AAA battery. The AA version has a total capacity of 1560mAh, while the AAA version has a 450mAh capacity. That’s actually quite a lot of power. It’s more than the amount of power you’ll find inside some pairs of headphones. If it is technically possible, it would be great for the LED to blink a certain number of times at the start of charging to indicate the remaining battery capacity. Charge Time: (AA: Under 1 hour) (AAA: 1 Hour) Depending on charger specifications. Cycle Rating: 1000+ Cycles Every single year, people throw away over 3 billion batteries in the U.S. alone. That comes out to some 180,000 tons of hazardous waste material entering landfills annually. And as those batteries corrode over time, the chemicals inside of them leech into the soil and water.

I have found their charge and usage performance to be excellent compared to standard AA and AAA rechargeable batteries and I will be a long-time user of Pale Blue Earth batteries. And don't forget, Pale Blue recharges super fast so you can recharge conveniently anytime you need a fresh charge. This is a major advancement from traditional rechargeable batteries, which are notorious for leaking when they’re drained or overcharged. These leaks can cause severe damage to electronic devices, sometimes beyond repair. Each Pale Blue battery will draw 0.5A when charging. If you are charging 4 batteries at the same time, using our 4:1 cable, the USB power supply should be rated at 2A output for optimized charging time (this will be marked on the power supply itself). Thanks to the advanced Lithium Ion technology, your batteries will last over one thousand charges. They charge fast and easy, so if you need to put them to work and suspect they are not full, just plug them in for a little while and you'll be good to go very soon. how long from a charge until these have discharged half their life without being used? Is this known? How does that compare with traditional? Pale Blue batteries are equipped with a modern USB-C charging port, and in case you’re unfamiliar, USB-C is the latest standard in the USB family and is recognized for its high-speed data transfer and charging capabilities. I believe Pale Blue Earth’s AA and AAA batteries would last for 1,000 charge cycles (if you can avoid losing or damaging them for that long). But the claim that each charge cycle equates to preventing an alkaline or lithium-ion battery from entering the landfill seems like a bit of a stretch. Pale Blue Lithium Smart Batteries are essentially an example of those modern technologies being applied to old ideas like rechargeable AAs. And that’s why Pale Blue are supposed to be among the best rechargeable lithium batteries you can get your hands on. Do they really do that much? Well, these batteries deliver in at least a couple of important ways.

When measuring useful capability, we can look at the time for the battery performance to degrade to half of its starting power. The discharge time to get down to 50% of starting power is about the same for Pale Blue and Alkalines. So, in this respect, we are competitive with what you expect from Alkalines. Most new smartphone and tablet power supplies will support 2A charging, but some older power supplies, or your computer USB port, might only support 0.8A or 0.5A output. Pale Blue batteries will still charge with a lower output power supply, but it will take longer.

Customer reviews

Another user-friendly feature that I genuinely appreciate is the built-in LED charging indicator. This small, but extremely useful feature saves you from the guessing game that comes with traditional rechargeable batteries. As much as I'd love to nerd out and explain how rechargeable batteries work, I'll save you the time and won't bore you with battery chemistry. Instead, I'll leave you with common terms you'll probably stumble across in your search for the best rechargeable batteries. → NiMH A couple of years ago I was introduced to my first recharge-via-USB AA battery. The concept was novel, the execution was not particularly noteworthy as performance was not what I’d expect for in something trying to replace conventional alkaline. Micro USB or USB-C Charge Port– Some models come with micro USB and others with USB-C. However, it looks like they are moving towards USB-C for all. When the batteries are not being used they may be stored in the provided plastic container. The container is designed to hold 4 AA or 4 AAA and 1 AA. The picture above shows the way that each size battery fits into the case. Performance
