Damage due to user negligence, accidents, dis-assembly, waterlog, misuse, abuse, alterations or vandalism. It feels like there's something of a mechanical keyboard renaissance recently, with boutique brands producing some stunning keyboards with unique designs and advanced features for surprisingly little money. I've selected five of the best that have passed over my desk in the first half of the year, from ultra-premium numbers to more affordable options, so take a look - even if you're not a mechanical keyboard fan, you might find something that sparks something here. The five best mechanical keyboards I've tested this year: The IF98 is a high-end gasket-mounted keyboard. It takes gasket material and silicone on both the top and bottom edges of the plate and PCBA. The top-grade gaskets and silicone of the gasket-mounted keyboards absorb the impact of every keypress, which creates a flexible, softer, and cleaner typing experience. Underneath the case is yet another secret trapdoor, which holds a 2.4gHz dongle, used for connecting the keyboard wirelessly. You can also opt for Bluetooth 5.1, or go the traditional wired route, with that sweet coiled USB-C cable from before. A 3,000mAh battery is pretty standard, and gives you decent usage, assuming you've got the RGBs off.

You must return an item in the same condition as it was received. You must also include, in the same condition as it was received: Fairly standard inclusions; it’s nice to have extra keycaps; they’re predominantly used for ”badge area”. First Impression of the YUNZII Keynovo IF98 The steel plate does not have the proper tolerance for switches and the switches are incredibly hard to remove and the paint on it scratches easily Glorious sent me a selection of switches, keycaps and cables, and I ended up with some pleasant teal and blue keycaps, a curly pink two-part cable and with soft, linear Kailh Box Red switches that work well for typing and gaming. The finished article tends to attract attention from house guests (I assume everyone takes keyboard questions when their significant other is having a party?) and it's so pleasant and unannoying to use that it's remained on my desk far longer than is strictly necessary for a review - always a good sign that I'm getting on well for a keyboard. The other keyboards on this list are fairly specialised and I wouldn't recommend them to absolutely everyone - especially given some come at a pretty steep price - but the GMMK 2 makes for an awesome introduction to mechanical keyboards at a very fair price. 5. Razer Huntsman Mini AnalogYou get the neat feature of customising any key to perform specific macros or multimedia functions. GASKET MOUNTED KEYBOARD: The IF98 is a high-end gasket-mounted keyboard. It takes gasket material and silicone on both the top and bottom edges of the plate and PCBA. The top-grade gaskets and silicone of the gasket-mounted keyboards absorb the impact of every keypress, which creates a flexible, softer, and cleaner typing experience. use not following the ‘User Guide’ or any additional safety, use, or warnings included in the product materials.

I think this keyboard, with its plastic exterior, doesn’t feel cheap. You can see the edges that have been finished adequately and the excellent polish applied to the brass accent piece. In addition, the addition gaskets for sound dampening have also been a fantastic addition. The weight of the keyboard makes the keyboard feel sturdy and stable and is reflected similarly when playing games or doing work on this keyboard. I’ve used the keyboard for about a month and had no issues with the quality, and it’s durable even after dropping it accidentally once. There is a slight degree of flex when bending it along its long axis, but that is normal. The plastic exterior keyboards all experience this degree of flex. The Hidden Badge AreaIf you’re new to mechanical keyboards, you might want to start by reading our definitive guide on mechanical keyboards. The bottom is very empty and needs foam or silicone. The empty battery compartment cover needs to be removed. Beyond the slightly odd (and high for Keychron!) pricing, there's little to complain about with the Q5. Yes, it's certainly not a good size or weight to be toted onto a train or into a café, but it feels good to use, looks great and key bindings and lighting can be programmed via an app or via QMK/VIA firmware updates. And if you need a keyboard to reënact that scene from Wanted, this is the one I'd choose. 3. Yunzii Keynovo IF98 Hot-Swappable Gasket Mounted Mechanical Keyboard Any item returned incomplete or with physical damage such as scratches etc., excessive signs of use or abuse will not be accepted for return.

What I would like to see on this keyboard It’s a very nice addition for people who want to add extra keys to their keyboards. The badge is removable, with four slots for you to insert your switches and keycaps into. Keycaps The usb c port is incredibly tight and takes time to accept cords easily. Thought mine was broken until I gave the cord some force to get it to seat fully. Bluetooth. or 2.4GHz wireless with a dongle is probably the best case scenario. I like wireless keyboards, but I understand the design constraints of adding in a battery and the PCB requirement to allow for switching. This might increase the price, of course. Conclusion Since the keyboard has a frosted case, you can see through it, just a tad, offering that nostalgic view of the internal working parts of the tech. I think they went a little too opaque with the frost accent, though, because it hampers the RGBs, making them look dull. Either the case needed to be more transparent, or the lights underneath needed to be brighter. At the very least, the faint lighting is even, and it looks pretty enough when the RGBs are disabled. Though it's made from plastic, the keyboard has some heft to it, with minimal flexing on the outer edges. The YZ75 is 75% layout 82-key mechanical gaming keyboard. Come with a acrylic metal badge, the keyboard offers both functional and aesthetic. The keyboard takes Gateron G Pro switch and pre-lubed stabilizers. Build in double layers sound absorbing foams give the keyboard premium typing experience. The YUNZII YZ75 is a 75% mechanical keyboard that is fully customizable, geared for mechanical keyboard enthusiasts. 【 Multi-Device and Tri-Mode Wireless Connectivity: Bluetooth 5.0&2.4G&Type-C Cable】 Let’s talk about build quality. For its price, it’s effectively competing with most of the other mass-produced 96/100% keyboards. Those from Epomaker are probably in its direct window of comparison, whilst the default gaming keyboards from Razer, Corsair and Logitech are still way more expensive.

Style is unique and adds value to the keyboard. The keyboard works flawlessly as expected of a new product. I have the custom linear switches. They are smooth and similar to cherry red. Unlike other linear switches these switches along with the included key caps do not bottom out with as much force, making typing good. Gaming is excellent with just a few keys normal used w,a,s,d and spacebar. Based on my experience the stabilizers are fine. I don’t detect excessive wobble or clattering on any keys. My switch combo is very quiet, the key sound and gaskets provide a solid, expensive sound. The software is functional. I haven’t tried to remap any keys though. One note, the keyboard doesn’t include print screen so business functionality in my use case is hindered. However the board offers extra switches and key caps and 4 empty slots to add a key and presumably mal what function I need. Accidents, abuse, misuse, improper installation, problems with electrical power, acts of third parties. The software is fairly basic for the YUNZII Keynovo IF98; you can adjust the RGB settings of your keyboard, and it’s not reflected in real-time, so you have to keep pressing the apply button. As the name implies, the IF98 is a 98% keyboard, meaning it's pretty much a fullsize board, condensed into a smaller, sleeker frame. You've got the beloved numpad, and the four bonus macro keys, giving you everything you need.
