Description

Asuryani wear the Spirit Stones because they believe that if their souls make it into the Infinity Circuit then they will be safe in death from the hunger of Slaanesh. It is therefore considered a great sin to draw these spirits from out of their ever-lasting sanctuary into the real world once again, where there remains a risk of their Spirit Stones being shattered in war and their souls forever lost to She Who Thirsts. Wyches at least gain something new out of psychic support (as well as an Archon’s ability to buff both their shooting and melee ability). However, I’m still not convinced that going Ynnari is worth it. Yes, you get some psychic support but the cost is sacrificing all your army-wide abilities – including ones that could help vehicles and other ranged units. First up, we’ve got the very simple detachment of the Yncarne and some Wyches. This slots pretty easily into the skeleton of the basic Craftworlds list I’ve been trying out in 9th. A Ghost Warrior is a wraithbone robotic construct utilised exclusively by the Craftworld Aeldari in times of urgent need. For the Asuryani, death does not guarantee respite from war, for the species' need is greater than that of its constituent souls. If you are a DE guy Im sure you know about Lawrence Baker. We recorded a great episode with him and he’s had an entire new Ynnari done on commission.

There are many different forms of Wraithlord, most of which have been devised by Craftworld Iyanden to better suit the warrior spirit inside. If the animating force within the Wraithlord specialised in close assault when it was alive, it will seek to tear apart its enemies with great energised fists or cleave its foes with a swing of the sentient scimitar known as a Ghostglaive.

Airbrushing Yellow and More Methods

Chaos Thwarted (899.M41) - A vast Word Bearers Traitor Legion voidship storms out of the Eye of Terror and sets a path towards Craftworld Il-Kaithe. In response, the Asuryani release their Ghost Warriors aboard the monstrous vessel. Battle rages within its cavernous corridors for several solar weeks, the Ghost Warriors enduring ferocious firepower from scores of Daemon Engines. Eventually, the tide of battle turns when, in one of the ship's rancid landing bays, three Il-Kaithe Wraithknights engage in combat with a debased Chaos Feral-class Titan. They finally blast it into the void of space and then begin the methodical slaughter of the remaining Chaos forces. Before making a roll of any of the types shown above for a unit with the Strands of Fate ability, if any of your retained dice have a result corresponding with that type of roll (as shown above) and have not been used to manipulate a roll this battle round, you can manipulate that roll. If you do so: Many of the Asuryani wear highly polished Waystones upon their chests. At the precise moment an Asuryani dies, the wearer's soul becomes captured within this stone -- which is then known as a Spirit Stone. Regarding Wraithblades, the offence vs. defence thing is fair. My issue is that the offensive bonus is melee-only, whilst the normal bonus can be applied to either. But for the Asuryani to reach out into the afterlife in such a way marks the gravity of their situation. Such is the plight of the Craftworld Aeldari -- such is their position as a dying race in the galaxy -- that even the spirits of the dead are needed to fight once again for their people.

Wielding twin Ghostswords that leave glowing traces in the air, the Wraithblades cut down their foes with both merciless precision and the great might afforded by their long-limbed forms. Yvraine saw a modest amount of use in 8th edition (including by me) as a pure value piece – her ability to throw out both a +cast smite and a Gaze of Ynnead every turn was basically always fine at her cost, and especially in Craftworlds helped you reach a critical mass of mortal wounds to really threaten anything that came to tangle in your lines. I’m very happy with the results and my progress so far. Working on this project alongside some friends, who are also progressing their armies during the pandemic, has really motivated me. In fact, I had my first tabletop game in about 20 years just the other day – a game of Warhammer 40,000 using the first 500 points of this army, all fully painted! We had an absolute blast.Meanwhile, the Wraithknight grapples with tanks or monsters, or blasts apart a fortress wall so that the smaller wraith-constructs can cause havoc inside. But if you play Flayed Skull I think you’ll have a leg up on getting the hang of new Ynnari as the Warriors in Venoms as a fire base and are essentially sprinkling some Wyches and CWE assault units on top of that for a great melee wing. I love wraiths in the new codex and wanted to run a list around them. The core units I wanted in it were wraithguard/blade units, wraith lords, avatar of khaine and a wraithknight as they are some of my favourite in the new codex. I came up with the list from those models: On top of that they are troops so can help you fill up your troops selections for the all important battalion.
