About this deal

Second of all, it’s a bit like buying Apple products – once you’re in, it’s hard to get out. You don’t want to keep using it forever but what happens if you stop?

But it did make my existing hair a lot stronger. In fact, I only noticed how much I’d come to depend on Nioxin when my little travel bottles of the shampoo and conditioner ran out and I had to use normal shampoo again. The almost instantaneous result was dry, brittle hair, increased hair fall and bigger patches. Shampoos, conditioners, and leave-ins are considered the holy trinity of hair care products. It’s a good thing to know that Nioxin carries all three within their collection that target hair loss. Still, from my own research and my own use, I found Nioxin’s hair loss shampoo to be pretty effective. I used Nioxin hair care products long after the takeover in 2008 and they worked for me! This Nioxin shampoo review recommends discontinuing use immediately if you experience any allergic reactions or warning signs. What happens if you stop using Nioxin?Meanwhile, the cleanser itself focuses on what Nioxin calls “the 3Ds of haircare” – Denisty, Derma and Diameter. Basically meaning that hair strands expand to look bigger than they actually are. Fake it ’til you make it, right?! Based on hair length of 12 inch/30 cm, measured by weight of broken hair, compared to non-conditioning shampoo. From my own research and my own use, I found this hair loss shampoo to be pretty effective. I used Nioxin hair care products long after the takeover in 2008 and they worked for me,” reads a testimonial by Lady Alopecia. Ever since I was a baby, I was allergic to some of the microorganisms that are a part of every person’s skin biome. This allergy resulted in dandruff, starting at age 13. For decades, I tried so many shampoos, both prescription and OTC. Many of them kept the dandruff in control for about 2 days. But this shampoo was different. It eliminated my dandruff. It is a strong shampoo and my theory is that it was able to get under the layer of skin containing dead cells, thus allowing the cells to be rinsed away. My dandruff is gone, and does not recur, but my scalp still gets irritated due the allergy. But it is so nice not to deal any more with the dandruff component of the problem. Hair clogged combs, shedding on pillows, and a more visible scalp; all effects of alopecia. While it may seem terrifying at first, I’ve discovered there are ways to actually prevent it from happening.

In saying that, I can’t give you my full honest review without including some cons. Here we go! 1. It can get expensive Hairfinity Vitamins: hair loss and thinning hair treatment products designed with collagen, MSM, and horsetail This System 2 collection features a shampoo for purifying, a conditioner for improving elasticity, and a leave-in treatment for additional nourishment. This set is most compatible with natural hair with progressed thinning. The formula contains ingredients such as peppermint oil, vitamins, botanicals, SPF 15 sunscreen, cysteine, and white tea extract. A recent review [7] describes how hair suffers photodamage when exposed to UV rays, such as degradation of hair proteins and discoloration. The use of sunscreen protects the hair cuticle and prevents photodamage. The next wonderful thing is that I used it on my underarms. I have not detected any odor since using this, but I still use a light amount of deodorant just to make sure. But on the few days that I forgot to use deodorant, there was no odor.

About Lady Alopecia

Scientifically proven ingredients: Nioxin products are formulated with a range of scientifically proven ingredients, including niacin, caffeine, and saw palmetto extract, among others. These ingredients have been shown in studies to help improve hair density and reduce hair shedding. With my advanced state of hair loss, the shampoo alone probably wouldn’t have been enough – so I had to get the full shebang of Nioxin products, including a hair serum and a scalp exfoliator. (Apparently, more peace of mind, brought on by more pieces of hair, doesn’t come cheap.) Each formula targets specific hair needs and concerns. This Nioxin shampoo review will take a look at some of their most popular items down below.

Hi Michele, thanks for sharing your experience and I’m really sorry for the delayed response! I’m also sorry to hear about your trouble with Nioxin…may I ask how long you used it for though? As this is quite a common side effect within the first 2 weeks, while your scalp gets used to the new formula. I’ve heard this anecdotally several times but for those who keep using it, there is a marked improvement after a couple of weeks! With Keranique, I don’t massively recommend it because a) apparantely, a lot of customers are scammed into an autoship programme (see my Keranique post for more) and b) it contians 2% minoxidil, which is quite harsh on the scalp. It has been proven to help hair growth…but actually, essential peppermint oil does the same thing with less side effects! I don’t promote the use of minoxidil myself because I’ve used it in the past and it gave me headaches, heart palpitations and dizzy spells. But I know lots of people do use it (for instance, it’s the main ingredient in Rogaine). For me, I prefer the more natural approach, which is why I like Nioxin…or for something even more chemical free, I’d highly recommend Revita – full post here. With the moisture control and sebum-removing qualities that Nioxin products offer, the scalp becomes neither too dry nor too oily. For instance, the scalp and hair treatment that comes with the 3D kit (and is also available as a standalone product) contains sunscreen – so I was free to bare my patches without fear of burning or flaking. 2. Plus, it’s gentle on the shaft Niacin: Niacin, also known as vitamin B3, helps to improve blood flow to the scalp and promote healthy hair growth. According to a study published in the International Journal of Trichology, topical application of niacin can increase hair growth and improve hair density in people with androgenetic alopecia (male or female pattern baldness). Fine or thinning hair is suddenly volumized. Male and female-pattern baldness patches fill in. Shedding stops and self-esteem soars. Many male reviewers vote it as the best men’s shampoo for thinning hair, too.

Now, don’t get me wrong: searching for thinning hair solutions can get tiring. Expensive. And messy.

The credibility of the hair loss treatment has also been called into question, with customers complaining that Nioxin changed its formula since P&G took over. (It now contains sodium laureth sulfate – find sulfate free options here). Note: I include some other products in this review, purely because I supplemented my shampoo with a conditioner and a scalp and hair treatment. Plus some more items within the Nioxin 3D Intensive Care range. (I went all out!) After all, an ayurvedic doctor once told me: ‘The hair is like grass. If the soil is all dried up or flooded, how can we expect it to grow?’ So anything that focuses on the scalp sounds like a good idea to me. Can be expensive: Nioxin products can be relatively expensive compared to other hair care brands, especially if you need to use multiple products to achieve the desired results. And then I observed that the new product was distributed by Wella Haircare in CA and was made in Mexico; the former product was made by Nioxin Laboratories in Atlanta in the USA.There are different kits available. And each purifying shampoo works in a different way, depending on your hair type, the extent of shedding or if you have colored hair.
