Another feature of the Go Expert is the option for multi-drop so you can set up a series of stops on your route ideal for a delivery driver with more than one stop on your planned route. Verdict TomTom’s voice commands have always been a little hit and miss for me, and that hasn’t changed with the Go Discover. Simple things such as “Turn the volume up” or “What’s the next instruction?” seem to work fine, but others like “Go to a city centre” or “Go to a petrol station” sometimes took three or four goes to get recognised, and the latter didn’t even pull up any nearby petrol stations even though I could find them through a normal search on the map, complete with current fuel prices. The TomTom Go Expert also comes with voice control that when tested can be a little bit of a mixed bag. Offering simple commands worked well but when asking for things such as a “Hello TomTom service station” did take a few times to recognise but eventually after asking for that command a few times in a week it did start to recognise what I wanted. If you still have issues just do a normal search which will also provide fuel prices. Yet there’s still something to be said for the old school satnav; for having something purpose-built to do one job and do it well, with a reliable GPS and compass. I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s ever headed out in the wrong direction because their smartphone compass was playing up, and while no satnav I’ve used or tested has been 100% reliable, it’s still pretty rare for this kind of thing to happen.

So with these things in mind and the speed of the device, it’s well worth the investment just beware at 7 inches in size it is a very big satnav. Product Rating: Your mileage may vary with some of the more advanced features. Live traffic info seems more accurate and useful when driving in or near big towns than when you’re driving along country roads, while the 3D buildings feature is probably brilliant in Manchester or London, but not such a big deal where I live in the sleepy South West, where barely any buildings seem to have had the 3D treatment. This isn’t a huge issue if, like me, you rely primarily on voice guidance and leave map watching to whoever’s in the passenger seat. 3D buildings or no 3D buildings, the visuals are still clear and easy to follow, which is what’s really important. TomTom Go Discover review: What could be improved?

Design-wise it looks identical to that of the TomTom Go Discover that they have also recently announced. The Go Expert comes with a similar spec: it comes with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage as well as dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. This provides 3x faster map updates and 4x faster responsiveness as you need this satnav to be on point as one wrong turn in a Lorry could be a real issue to your journey. TomTom GO Expert 6-inch provides traffic alerts when paired with a compatible smartphone with Bluetooth connectivity. Detailed TomTom traffic alerts are available in the following countries:

Make sure you’re always on the right road with routes customised to your vehicle, plus timely alerts about bridge heights, ADR tunnels, UN class restrictions and more. Plus, find all you need along the way with dedicated points of interest (POIs) for professional drivers. Stay safe and comfortable on the road If you’re looking for a new satnav, then the Go Discover is one of the best, especially in its 6in and 7in versions. The 7in has a great screen, clear sound and a simple but effective UI. It’s speedy and responsive, and both the voice instructions and the visual maps are nice and clear. It focuses on making a great job of the basics and piling useful services on top, which, to my mind, makes it a better option than TomTom’s old flagship satnav, the Sat Nav Go Premium. TomTom GO Expert 6-inch provides clear alerts in real time for restrictions that might impact your vehicle, such as low emission zones, bridge heights, ADR tunnels and toll locations. Easily adapt your route to avoid restrictions that affect you. See restrictions even when you have no active route planned, so you always know what's up ahead. The TomTom GO Expert 6-inch also features moving lane guidance. This feature is designed for high-speed lane changes with clear moving lane guidance. Get in the right lane with enough time ahead of motorway exits and complex motorway junctions. The 7″ HD screen has the highest resolution currently in the marketplace which ensures drivers never miss important details when navigating the road ahead.TomTom make the best maps and deliver them 3x faster!** They’ve been making maps dedicated to driving for over 25 years – and now you can update them 3x faster wirelessly and at no extra cost.

Speed camera warnings appear to be accurate so far, and it detects average speed camera zones aswell, displaying your average speed whilst you are in this zone. On the display, once you have instructions in the top left you have the next instruction. In the middle of the screen on the road, you have the speed limit of that road with your current speed next to it. You will also notice if you go down a road that has some repairs happening the road will be displayed in yellow to indicate road works. If major delays the road will appear red and the Satnav will offer an alternative route. Traffic/road closures dont seem to work so far though, and I cant get it to connect via bluetooth to my phone (Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite) - I had to divert off the M8 the other night into Glasgow and the unit kept trying to get me to turn round and rejoin the motorway where I came off - there doesn't seem to be an easy way to tell the sat nav that a road is closed so that it finds a suitable alternative route. product/helpAdviseTab.hbs -->
