Description

Despite their convenience, USB rechargeable flashlights are still the exception, not the norm. Thankfully, Fenix is leading the charge to bring rechargeable lights to the mainstream flashlight market. And I was thrilled to test their small-but-mighty flashlight model, the TK20R V2.0. With the light switched on, tap the tactical switch to cycle through Turbo→High→Med→Low. The light memorizes the last selected output.

Once again Fenix has proven two things: One, they know how to make a great flashlight, and two, they’re an innovative brand that endeavors to keep making great lights. The proof is in the pudding, because so far, this is the 5th Fenix light I’ve reviewed that’s a 2nd (or 3rd in the PD35 V3’s case)generation of an existing product, and they’ve all featured meaningful and effective upgrades. The Fenix TK20R V2.0 flashlight has a maximum output of 3000 lumens from the Luminus SFT70 LED and is powered by 1 x 21700 li-ion battery (included). The torch has a hidden USB-C charging port towards the head of the light for fast and efficient charging without needing a separate, external charger. Additionally, many of these everyday carry flashlights have oversized clips that can become uncomfortable when you grip the flashlight. The TK20R V2.0 is perfect. It holds tight without extending too far off the body of the flashlight. And you can remove it if you need to. Strike Bezel

Product Details

Fenix TK20R v2.0 Torch (USB-C). Fenix TK20R V2 is a powerful update to the popular TK20R and is the longest throwing Fenix single cell LED Tactical torch. This new model upgrades the outgoing Fenix TK20R with an increase in output from 1,000 to 3000 lumens, an increase in beam range from 310 to an impressive 475 meters, tailcap dual switch system, 5000 mAh Fenix 21700 battery and Fenix advanced Digital Pulse Transmission signal system for a combination of ultimate power output and switch reliability. Simpler multi-functional tail switch: this APF technology can transmit various signal commands through a single layer within the light body. Traditional signal transmission requires a multi-layer system. Thanks to this new single-layer system, the light size can be greatly reduced and the structure will be more compact.

The battery that comes with the flashlight is ARB-L21-5000 V2.0 Li-ion battery (21700), but the TK20R V2.0 is also compatible with Fenix ARB-L21-5000U (21700) and Fenix ARB-L21-4000P (21700) batteries. Straightforward Operation More advanced tactical lights like the TK20R are designed for combat. The TK20R is rechargeable, meaning you can keep it in the fight indefinitely if you have a small solar charger. Selectable output lets you read a map without destroying your night vision or blast a 1,000-lumen beam more than 300 meters into the night. With the available attachments, you can mount it to a weapon, control it with a pressure pad, and filter light in different colors. It’s also built to a more demanding standard and is better protected against water. Got questions? The light memorizes the last selected output excluding strobe. When turned on again the previously used output of general mode will be recalled. The light will accumulate a lot of heat when used on Turbo output levels for extended periods. When the light reaches a temperature of 60°C or above, the light will automatically step down a few lumens to reduce the temperature. When the temperature drops below 60°C, it will then allow the user for the reselection of Turbo mode.Do NOT use the flashlight in inappropriate ways such as biting in the mouth, to avoid personal injury or life threats when the flashlight or internal battery fails! Tested in laboratory conditions to ANSI/PLATO FL1 standard using 1 x Fenix ARB-L21-5000 21700 lithium-ion rechargeable battery under the temperature of 21±3°C and humidity of 50% - 80%. Results may vary between torch, battery and environments.

Fully press the tactical switch to constantly turn on the light, press again the light will go out. The Fenix TK20R V2.0 is a compact rechargeable torch, that updates it's predecessor with a higher output of 3000 lumens, utilises a different LED, battery type, switch design and charging port, and throws the beam further. With the light switched off, press the functional switch to enter strobe, release the light will go out. A:Fenix ARB-L21-5000 V2.0 is recommended. Other Li-ion batteries are not recommended. As an unmatched battery may cause the flashlight to fail to work normally. Some flashlight manufacturers prioritize simplicity by programming one button to control every function. Tap once for power, twice for the low setting, twice then hold a third time for strobe––that kind of thing. It’s annoying at best and dangerous at worst. I appreciate that the TK20R has a separate button for power and output, with the strobe function activated by holding the function button so save-your-life mode is never more than one touch away.
