About this deal

BTU stands for British Thermal Unit and is used to measure the heat output of stoves and fuels. A single BTU is the heat required to raise 16 ounces of water one degree Fahrenheit. Isobutane canister camping stoves typically produce between 4000 and 11000 BTUs.

The MightyMo will fit one of Jetboil's flux ring pots should you have one, but they are quite pricey so most people will use it with whatever camping cookware they already have. For the testing period I have been trying it with an MSR 1.5 ltr stainless steel pot, an aluminium Primus solo pot, and with a 650 and a 900 ml Alpkit titanium pans. Liquid Fuel Stoves Explore our selection of liquid fuel stoves, perfect for outdoor trips. From burners to alcohol stoves, Trangia stoves multi-fuel cookers you’ll find everything you need to make your camping experience one to remember! Read More Fire Making Equipment Making a Fire can be one of the most important parts of Bushcraft or Camping, Not only does it generate heat and enabling cooking of a great meal it is also one of the most social parts of the trip sitting around with your friends. Read More The MightyMo has two main features that make it our favorite overall. First, it’s got the best burner control in the entire JetBoil line. The MightyMo has four full turns of adjustability, each one with a noticeably different output. This allows you to dial in a low simmering flame when you want to slow cook a sauce or a stew, a moderate flame when you’re looking to saute some veggies, or a roaring flame when it’s time to sear some red meat. And don’t worry, if you crank this bad boy up to the max, you’re still getting that infamous 10,000 BTUs of power JetBoil is known for. When it comes to portable stoves, Jetboil is a wilderness explorer’s best friend. The brand offers lots of great options for liquid fuel stoves for different needs. We also love the included cookpot on the MiniMo, which is essentially a compact version of JetBoil’s other popular insulated cookpots. Because it’s both wider and larger than the Stash (it’s a full liter), the MiniMo is better suited to simple cooking tasks like boiling pasta. It’s still a stretch for more complicated meals, but the burner has decent simmering performance, so you can get creative with smaller portions or just step up to a larger pot when you want to. If you’re more than a little bored of rehydrated meals on your hiking adventures, then the JetBoil MightyMo is going to be a very exciting addition to your kit. Camping Stove Accessories Uncover the secret to an amazing outdoor cooking experience – explore the accessories available for all your camping stoves and gas bottles. From coffee presses to pot grips, and even leather aprons, get creative with your cooking setup and make all the difference! Read More Well, first, I should mention that if you’re planning on cooking meals in cold weather, the best type of camp stove is one that doesn’t rely on a canister’s pressure at all. No matter how good the fuel mixture, it will eventually be unable to maintain pressure if it gets cold enough. When that happens, you won’t be able to create a flame on any camp stove. Jetboil actively promotes use of its companion FluxRing pots and pans in conjunction with this stove. They aren’t necessary and were not tested but we suspect they would marginally increase wind performance, boil averages, and efficiency. Efficiency

Personally, I’ve never had a Coleman fuel canister “fail” me–even in weather down to around 20°. If you’re camping in weather colder than that, you might consider an isobutane mix, or for complete peace of mind, use a liquid-feed system. Which JetBoil Fuel Works Best? Sleeping Accessories All those things you all ways need when camping in the wild spares and extra things to make your stay a little easier Another aspect where the Jetboil Stash excels is the ability to fit both the fuel canister and the stove base into the pot. This was a feature we liked with the Jetboil MiniMo, but it works much better on the Stash. In fact, when you buy the Stash, it comes with an empty fuel can-shaped trinket case just to show off how well everything fits together in the pot. The Jetboil SUMO has the same features as the MiniMo, but with a 1.8L cook pot instead of a 1.0L one. It’s designed for couples or small groups, but is underpowered for that task, with the same 6000 BTU power stove as the MiniMo and MicroMo. While you can simmer with the SUMO, I’d recommend upgrading to the 10,000 BTU Jetboil MightyMo stove if you plan to cook for more than two people or want to use wider and higher capacity pots and pans for meal preparation. Ultimately, whatever fuel you choose, or have access to, doesn’t make much difference. If you’re camping in temperatures above 30°, I’ve found that all the camping stove fuels are similar.

Wind Performance

That is, except for a liquid-feed stove like the MSR Windpro II, Polaris Optifuel, or Whisperlite Universal. These allow you to flip those fuel canisters upside-down, so you don’t have to worry about the cold at all. When you’re calculating the dimensions of these canister stoves, remember that the fuel occupies a lot of room. Fuel efficiency is key, so you don’t have to bring too much with you. Best Stove for Cooking Four-turn regulator offers incremental heat adjustments from a light simmer to a full boil, perfect for sautéing greens, simmering sauces, and more Jetboil’s camping cooking systems integrate a cook pot and stove into a highly efficient cooking system that was easy-to-use, fast, and completely self-contained. Below, we explain how to choose between the different Jetboil cooking systems so you can find the one that best suits your needs and budget. Specs at a Glance Make / Model

But if you have a JetBoil, you may have noticed that the official JetBoil fuel canisters (called “Jetpower”) are a little on the expensive side. Plus, if you’re not close to any larger outdoor stores, getting those JetBoil canisters can be close to impossible. Although we’ve chosen the MightyMo as our best JetBoil stove, there really isn’t a universal “best” choice out there. The MightMo is an incredible stove, which is powerful and compact, yet also has great cooking potential thanks to its highly-adjustable burner. Ultimately it’s the versatility (and price!) of this little wonder than got it to the top of our list, but that doesn’t mean it’s the only serious choice. If you are using conventional cookware i probably wouldnt want to exceed anything around 20cm in diameter for stability, and be mindful that we're not talking trying to boil a 5L pot of water which would be to heavy IMO. It’s definitely the largest and most expensive stove in the JetBoil lineup, but compared to similar camp grills from leading manufacturers like Camp Chef or Coleman, it’s incredibly compact and competitively priced. So if certain fuels do better in certain temperatures, does the weather make a difference in which fuel you choose? The best Jetboil stove in our review is the Genesis. While it’s bigger than other options, it comes with enough space to cook for a family. And the pot, pan and two burners all fit conveniently inside a handy travel bag, making it a complete cooking system.

Watch your sleeves when lighting your stove. Thin material, especially that of wind shirts, is quite susceptible to melting if it comes anywhere close to a flame. Additionally, the regulator arm folds under when disconnected from the fuel source. This aids nesting inside the cook pot. Like other stoves, the burner has teeth to help hold the cook pot in place.Walking Gaiters Walking gaiters offer a range of benefits that can help improve your walking experience. They are designed to keep your trousers clean and prevent rain and moisture from creeping up your leg. Read more
