Firstly this tent is new for 2018. I have owned Vango tents in the past and this new model is definitely improved into terms of materials and construction. The aluminium poles provided are lightweight, strong and snap together really well. They also slot through the tent very easily. The pegs provided are a huge improvement - they have pointed ends and are just a more substantial feel when held. I haven’t had a problem with any bending on me yet! In terms of construction, the tent has a 3000mm HH with fully taped seams. I camped for 36 hours through a storm in Snowdonia and this tent kept solid and kept me dry! The porch area is adequately sized to ensure safe storage of gear etc but this section does not have a sewn in groundsheet. The sleeping area consists of an inner tent and 5000mm HH sewn in groundsheet. This inner tent section is good, spacious for one but cozy for 2, well ventilated and leaves a good 6 inches between the sides of the inner tent and the outer flysheet.

For my recent Jurassic Coast multi-day hike I swapped my Vango Banshee for a smaller and lighter 1-person tent. As an entry-level hiking tent, the Helvellyn 200 is an option to take seriously. Hikers who only venture out for overnight excursions in the summer months should look for something lighter such as the Wild Country Zephyros Compact 2. But for three-season use, the Helvellyn 200 is an impressive tent for the price. The thing is, they now sell SEVERAL updated models of it... things are getting very confusing, so I thought to ask directly in a uk where someone may be more informed about this scottish company hopefully

The multi-function flysheet door can be opened from either side depending on the weather; or rolled up completely to give a fully open porch. They now have a Mirage Pro 200, which ironically is the one that is more different from the previous Mirage 200. After going on many wild camping expeditions with my lovely Vango Banshee 200 here area few secrets about this ‘famous’ tent (in my opinion haha) so you can decide whether to buy one for yourself.It might not seem it but 2.39 kg is heavy for such a small tent and there are definitely lighter ones on the market. Maybe they are the same fabric but with a different treatment that gives the different HH? Or maybe they are the same and it's just a typo? What would have been appropriate would have been to take the Helvellyn 200 up Helvellyn. But that’s what you’d expect us to do, so we took it on a trip to the Yorkshire Dales over the August bank holiday weekend instead. Also depending on the weather conditions, I sometimes don’t peg all the guy ropes out.The tent is sturdy with the main points pegged out.

It is also 95 cm at the highest point which is high enough for me to sit up in (I’m 5 ft 7 in), but only if you’re in the central section. The chances are you’ll still touch the slanting sections of the tent. Vango Banshee Pro My Banshee tent went on numerous wild and non-wild camping trips in the UK. Although, I’ve now ditched the Banshee and upgraded to a much lighter tent for my wild camping trips – MSR Hubba NXat only 1.4 kg.

Structurally the tent is solid. The three poles create a strong structure and I tested this in very windy conditions.

The Vango Banshee has a flysheet, an inner sheet and two poles, plus pegs. It’s fairly light but that depends on how far you want to carry your tent! I'm looking for a 3 season 2 person tent, external poles, compact and low and quite sturdy (want to occasionally use it as a 4 season tent too) but not too heavy (max 3 kg). I'm particularly oriented towards semi-geodesic structures, which I expect to have a better wind resistance. I already have a 1.3 Kg Camp Minima 2 SL as a light option.
