Cade has always loved to escape into the world of a good horror movie. After all, horror movies are scary—but to Cade, a closeted queer Latino teen growing up in rural Texas—real life can be way scarier.

Bloom | written by Kevin Panetta; illustrated by Savanna

Monstress is a lot. This is a deep dive into fantasy fiction that has far more lore, history, and politics wrapped up in it than your average comic book. AHHH there really was so much to this book that only made it more & more exceptional as it progressed. Problem is that secrets like Lolo’s don’t stay a secret for long. Skin, a dangerous dealer with designs on taking over the neighborhood, hears of Lolo’s telekinetic abilities and decides that he needs her in his crew. Skin might not have Lolo’s powers, but he’s got nothing to lose and is willing to do whatever it takes to get what he wants. And what he wants is Lolo. During the stand-off with Dr. Golan, he claimed that Emma's parents had tried to sell her off to a circus when she was 5 years old, but ended up abandoning her at one when they weren't able to. (Emma disproves this version of the story to Jacob during the second book.) the romance. there was genuinely no reason for the two mcs to like each other at all, let alone fall in love. Hector deserved so much better.Ari, whose family owns a bakery, wants to be a musician. He hires Hector to take on the work at the bakery so he can move to the city, but as they work together, their relationship grows. Graphic, nicely done artwork by Savanna Ganucheau Read more It will either draw out empathy and understanding from other queer readers, or will offer invaluable insight into this queer world for those who reside outside of it. In this breathtaking and witty graphic novel, Jake Wyatt and Choo explore the power and limits of wishes in a modern fable rooted in magic and family secrets. So when a vacation to visit friends in Huntsville, Alabama, unexpectedly becomes a permanent relocation—following her mother’s announcement that she’s getting married—Robin is devastated.

At first glance, Emma mistook Jacob for Abraham, and grew increasingly angry at the prospect of Abe having grandchildren, since he had once promised such things to her. After Miss Peregrine confirmed his human and genealogical status, she initially regarded him as the bearer of bad news. However, she begins to warm up to him. She befriends him easily, flirting all the while, but as the series goes on, they fall in love. The two demonstrate easy cooperation when called for and enter into a romantic relationship during Hollow City, which they maintain until partway through A Map of Days. It hurts for her to see Jacob hurt, and thinking that she lost him, mentioning that it can make her break. This queer manga explores the dangers of marginalisation and the strength it takes to overcome, find a community, and feel loved. It is very much a story of empathy, love, and community. When We Came Out takes us on a trip through her life as she recounts those subtle signs that were always there and ultimately her journey towards coming out. It’s funny, poignant, and you truly bond with Lousie from the get-go. Ganucheau's illustrations are absolutely beautiful, and they are full of emotion and life. At times I found myself re-reading portions of the book so I could spend some time concentrating on the illustrations. This is a simple story, but it had so much heart, and I found myself rooting for Ari and Hector's relationship to flourish, even when Ari screwed things up. Nobody pays much attention to John—just a normal teenager at a high school where the social elite happen to possess unthinkable powers and abilities. John prefers it that way. The more he stays under the radar, and stays close to the Royal’s most powerful Ace, Seraphina, the safer he is in the halls of Wellston High.
