Strong enough for heavy lifting but flexible and light enough for running, Reebok’s 9th version of their popular Nano trainer pairs a Flexweave woven textile upper with a cushioned midsole. That makes them suitable for agility training and sprints, while its RopePro grip ensures you stay secure during rope climbs, box jumps, and other lateral movements. New for 2021, Nike has released the Nike Metcon 6 Premium. The Nike Metcon 6 Premium is styled like travel luggage.

Nike Metcon 6 review – Workout shoes for hardcore sessions - T3

Single-activity cardio can be formulated as a metcon — think a 1-mile run or an 800-yard swim during which you’re working at a moderate to intense level from start to finish. Should you update? Yes, if want a more versatile Metcon. Breathability - What the update is all about To be honest, neither the Nike Metcon 6 or Nike Metcon 7 is that great for running. When performing workouts with running, I’ll try to cap distance to no more than 1-mile at a time when training in either of these shoes. In addition, in the Nike Metcon 6, I try to limit running in them as much as possible. Like every dedicated training shoe, the most important construction characteristics are dictated by the demands of the activity. For Cross-training shoes, we’d advise considering these five main construction characteristics:For the first time ever, Nike has made a FlyEase version of the Nike Metcon. For the first time ever, Nike brings it’s FlyEase innovation to the Metcon shoe. Once tied, you can put these on and take them off without using your hands or arms.

Designed for versatility, not specifically for deadlifts, so deadlift slippers might be better for powerlifters The Metcon 6 is for people serious about their fitness and their strength training, who are looking for a shoe that can handle all exercises thrown at it.The Nike Metcon 6 is an amalgamation of classic Metcon shoes – and that’s where the styling cues from from. To draw a comparison I just prefer the feel on the foot from the higher heel cup and tongue of the Nano X, and prefer Reebok’s classic design and more subtle sole rope wrap. Here’s a closeup of the upper on the Nike Metcon 5. It’s a dual layer material with 3d haptic print on top for durability. It wasn’t bad, but it’s definitely not breathable like the Metcon 6. How, you might ask? These workouts recruit all three of your body’s energy pathways — phosphagen, glycolytic, and oxidative — which all take turns generating adenosine triphosphate (ATP) to fuel your muscles ( 2).

Find out more about the Nike Metcon 6 AMP shoes in our in-depth article. Nike Metcon 6 Premium Review – In Summary The sole in the Metcon 6 seems to have found the perfect balance between running and lifting job descriptions. Nike Metcon 6 for HIGH INTENSITY TRAINING (Burpees, Box Jumps, Kettlebells, Lunges)The Nike Metcon 6 is my favorite CrossFit shoe for the year 2021 – and now that it has been out for quite a while, there are lots of different versions and editions. Nike Metcon 6 AMP – How is it different than the regular edition? Let’s compare and contrast. The Metcon 6 doesn’t reinvent the wheel because in many ways it doesn’t have to. This feels like a shoe that’s built for versatility in the gym. If you want to lift, it’s giving you that stable base. If you want a better fit for functional training that can still keep you light on your feet, it delivers there too. The only reason it didn’t get a full 10/10 was its performance during a run, even a short one, as part of a workout or warm-up. The Metcon 5 felt heavy and stiff when it came to moving through the running gait. What’s different in the Nike Metcon 6 as compared to the Metcon 5? Not much. The upper is the real difference.

If there’s one part of this article that is super interesting, it’s this construction section. Compared to the Nike Metcon 6, which was super similar to the Nike Metcon 5, the Nike Metcon 7 has received pretty much a full construction overhaul. A great all-around cross-training shoe should be versatile and offer solid stability. The Reebok Nano X2 has a responsive foam insole, great traction, and even comes in two different color options for variety. Plus, the additional Hyperlift insert is another perk of this model because it raises the heel elevation to 12mm. This is great for anyone that loves lifting with an elevated heel but doesn’t want to invest in a pair of weightlifting shoes. Agility and PlyometricsThrow the included hyperlift wedges in under that removable midsole and you’ll add 8 mm of drop for a total of 12mm. You can have the best-looking and most innovative technology in the world, but if your shoes aren’t good for cross-training, it’s pointless. Functionality factors into our more specialized selections. Take the best cross-training shoes for deadlifting, for example. They should be solid with a nice base of support and not too much give, whereas that’s not exactly what you’d want for a running-focused cross-training shoe. At the end of the day, the shoe has to function as it’s intended to for it to rank highly for us. Design But a metcon workout doesn’t require such high intensity to be considered metcon. In short, both HIIT and Tabata workouts are considered metcons, but not all metcons are considered HIIT or Tabata.
