About this deal

If you liked The Salt Path you’ll enjoy this book, an incredible adventure with notes about the wildlife and surroundings in beautiful detail. On the Cape Wrath Trail, she was pleasantly surprised by the groups of teenagers wild camping alongside them, all of whom ‘had this sense of belonging to the landscape, that it was part of who they were… you’ve got to love it before you’re going to protect it’. She has yet to find the same in places like Cornwall, where access to land is being restricted more than ever. ‘How are we to engender a passion to protect it if they don’t actually really know what it is? If you live in a city and your only access to green is your local park, how are you going to feel that you are part of a living, breathing ecosystem?’ The difference from walking the South West Coast Path for The Salt Path is they now have funds for the odd hotel and replacement gear, while Winn has become Britain’s best-known hiker, bringing recognition, or at least endorsement. “Have you read a book called The Salt Path?” says one walker. Landlines is another Winn win. As well as being a paean to the natural world, Winn’s books give her a material presence. She feels age robbing her of her visibility – something the shy part of her has ‘no concerns with’, but socially feels ‘strange’. Besides, she thinks, this is the wrong way round – being edged out of view when she has never had more to share. ‘Life doesn’t wind down as you get older, I think it winds up. And I think that’s very much not seen by younger people. But I think the older I get, I start to realise that actually you don’t lose everything that happens in your life, you gather it, and you take it forwards – it becomes you, but you just become a bigger entity.’

Abrupt changes, signalling a worrying future for our climate, and for us. We will need to adapt in ways we are only just beginning to understand. Ligt het aan het feit dat ik die boek in (een zeer Hollandse) nogal stroeve vertaling las? Ligt het aan het feit dat dit boek voelt als een verplicht nummertje? Een zoveelste variatie op hetzelfde thema? Raynor takes Moth’s hand, looking anywhere but at the screen. What the scan results show is best discovered by the reader, who may struggle to keep a dry eye. vast on siin raamatus eelmistest rohkem kõhklust ja süütunnet ja seda küsimust, et kas ta ikka suudab, kas me suudame. muidugi ei võeta ette ka lihtsat ülesannet, esimene plaan on matkata läbi Cape Wrath Trail Šotimaal ja see on ka noore ja terve inimese jaoks paras katsumus. aga lõppeb see lugu muidugi ikka sellega, et Fort Williamis pidama ei jääda, sest West Highland Way kutsub... ja Glasgows ka ei jääda pidama... ja kuiThe couple were told that, as the condition progressed, Moth would experience worsening problems with his movement, speech, memory and swallowing. It felt like they were living on borrowed time, but then, as they made their way along the South West Coast Path, there came a surprising epiphany. I loved following the journey, and the descriptions of the country. However, I sometimes found the author's tone and opinions difficult. Not only the fairly regular remarks about Brexit but I found myself annoyed by her "I told you so" repetitions when Moth had done something silly. Another heartwarming odyssey, this time on one of the wildest walks in Britain… Raynor’s is a voice of empathy and integrity” - Guardian Britney Spears' estranged husband Sam Asghari shows off his sculpted muscles in clinging tank top... after she posed with NO UNDERWEAR His gait became almost normal, his thoughts cleared, his short-term memory sharpened and movements that had been almost impossible before became easy. The Cape Wrath Trail is over two hundred miles of gruelling terrain through Scotland’s remotest mountains and lochs. But the lure of the wilderness and the beguiling beauty of the awaiting glens draw them northwards. Being one with nature saved them in their darkest hour and their hope is that it can work its magic again. Time viewers call the BBC drama 'one of the hardest watches in recent times' as fans break down in tears at the ending after binge watching second series Raynor also writes about wild camping, nature, and homelessness. “The Wild Silence” was published by Michael Joseph (which is a subsidiary of Penguin Books) in September of 2020. The book was shortlisted for the Wainwright Prize for Nature Writing in 2021. Twelve years later, in our early 30s with two tiny children and a small van full of our belongings, we moved into our new home in the hills of Wales. It was a semi-ruin, with the roof caving in, but it was everything we’d dreamt of.

The catalyst came in early 2021 when Moth collapsed at home on the farm. The raw anguish of this incident is still palpable as Raynor reflects on it now. “It was this moment when Moth’s health was at such an all-time low and he was thinking that maybe we were getting close to the end,” she says.
