The midfoot has a secure grip, and so does the heel. The midfoot is partially sleeved, so the tongue doesn’t slide during runs. The Kinvara 13 was literally designed for speed. Its beveled midsole and new midfoot contouring deliver a smoother, faster ride. While we have never believed in the efficacy of a medial post in slowing pronation, many runners prefer the sensory experience of a medially posted shoe.

Being nearly a minimalist running shoe, the Kinvara is not only close to the ground but is also highly flexible and maneuverable. The Ride has am EVA-TPU blend foam midsole and a TPU insole, above the midsole. The Kinvara also has the same sole setup as the Ride now. This lineup shares most design components with its neutral counterpart. Its inherent support not only works for mild overpronation but is also unobtrusive for neutral runners. The Tempus combines an EVA frame with a softer Pwrrun PB core – the same material that’s used on the Endorphin Speed and Pro. Softer upper with better support: A new mono mesh upper is introduced with a more pliable feel. Despite being stretchy, it remains secure because of its overlays and gusseted tongue.The Kinvara 13 is almost the same as the first Kinvara. Meaning, that racing shoes now have plates that make them swift. And most daily trainers are very comfortable and responsive for that longer distance run you might want to use them for. In the Kinvara 13s that is not the case. Unlike many other brands that offer a flimsy all-mesh upper and a foam mono-sole, the Cohesion is solidly built. Once I finally had the correct size, I took the Kinvara 12 out for an easy run to get a feel for the ride.

Performance: A- ( Really natural and flexible ride throughout. Responsiveness could be improved a tad by just increasing the rigidity through the midfoot a tad) It’s a very natural feeling shoe that feels like an extension of my body. The first run was a bit of an adjustment, all my shoes in my current running rotation offer plates or extra cushioning. The Kinvara 12 maintains the same simplicity and style that we’ve come to expect from this shoe since it first hit the market in 2010.Though the Saucony Tempus is the unofficial replacement for the Hurricane 23, the two shoes couldn’t be more different. The PWRRUN PB stands at the help of the series. It is considerably lighter than the PWRRUN+ (by 40%) and embodies an elite-level of energy return and durability. “PB” stands for Pebax, a material that’s used in the high-end race shoes like Nike Alphafly and Vaporfly. This foam is currently only employed by Saucony Endorphin Pro racer. SPEEDROLL We have reviewed several avatars of the Kinvara for more than a decade, and the durability of the outsole has always been decent, if not great. If I could suggest to Saucony I would make the next version of the Endorphin Pro upper just like the newest Kinvara 13. With the Omni 20, one gets a conforming yet comfortable upper fit that’s now aligned with how other Saucony products are designed.
