As a Mam of 3 children myself I can completely relate to how Serena feels although mine are very different in age, it sometimes feels like they are the same age as Serena’s children. We’ve been there as embarrassing parents to teenagers and the parents who get ‘Can I have a word please ? It’s about your son/ daughter’ conversations in the school yard. I think this is why I love reading her books and watching her videos so much as she’s entirely relatable to a ‘Normal parent’. I loved this audiobook, I would highly recommend listening instead of reading, The book is just as good, but Serena Terry’s delivery is excellent. This will brighten up your day and make you laugh out loud!

There is of course the whole cast of Derry Girls to choose from as well and Serena is familiar with many of them, after landing a cameo role in the forthcoming series of the Channel 4 comedy. This was a hilarious and remarkably honest look at being not just a Mammy but also about whether you can be yourself too. The plot flows beautifully, the narrator, Serena Terry herself, has an awesome Irish accent that’s so delightful to listen to. I couldn’t turn it off if I wanted to! Laughed out loud at work listening to this! If you like the Aisling books, I'd recommend this one and vice versa. I love Mammy Banter on TikTok and I love this book. Listening to Serena reading her own book with her Derry accent added a little something special to add. Really enjoyed this one.

a b Butler, Janice (2022-05-02). "Derry mammy Serena Terry on TikTok, Derry Girls and her new book". {{ cite journal}}: Cite journal requires |journal= ( help) I will say that this book had one huge trigger warning that I wish I would have known about, and that was ageism. And when I say ageism, I mean it goes both ways. The young are down on anyone over 25, and the over 35 crowd isn't looking with a lot of love at the under 25 crowd. Funny- it took my generation a lot more years in between ages to be so snarky about each other.

I will add that Paul is an absolute diamond in this book, he is patient, and loving and lets Tara have her “moment”. But, he ultimately reminds her that she is still the person he fell in love with and that she is an 𝗮𝗯𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗥𝗜𝗗𝗘 😆 But most of all, she’s going to prove to herself that she can still be a mom, still work full time, and still be Beyoncé… This was a 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘦𝘳 𝘧𝘶𝘯 and 𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴 read, and you really shouldn’t go in to it taking it too seriously. I listened along with the audio book while I read it and it was narrated by the author brilliantly. I would recommend for the audio alone, certain parts had me in absolute stitches. Serena made the decision to quit as chief operations officer at the tech company she worked for in Derry once the TikTok channel achieved relative success. [4] Mammy Banter was never monetised, to avoid "selling my soul to the advertising gods". To pay the bills, Terry set up her personal online digital marketing consulting, Catchy Co. [4] [6] Publications [ edit ]But most of all, she’s going to prove to herself that she can still be a mum, still work full time, and still be Beyoncé… Having seen family and friends go through some tough stuff with their kids I can relate to Tara from and outsider perspective. The thing of you never know what someone is going through so be nice to everyone should be thought by everyone. But it would be my dream to get into scriptwriting as I find it so much easier to write for visual content."

She hates everything about herself, and so does her 13 year old daughter. In an attempt to make everything better, she starts making life changes. Just because you're a mom doesn't mean your life is over, right?

The Rebel Mummy club was just fantastic. I just wanted to step into the book and join them, even if I am not a mummy. They sound like such a fun group. This was a hoot! Really enjoyed every bit!
