Description

After you’ve successfully sterilised your bottles, you’ll want to store them appropriately. If you’ve microwaved the bottles, you’ll want to allow the bottles to cool down before putting them in your kitchen cupboard (or elsewhere). It’s important to note that you should only store your MAM bottles when they are dry and not whilst they are still wet. Items inside stay sterile for 24 hours and the lid is designed with a flat lip so it can be laid horizontally in a smaller microwave – a useful feature we didn’t find in any other travel steriliser.

Nuby’s electric steam steriliser comes with a drying function so equipment can immediately be reused without having to wait for it to cool down or dry off. Our tester loved this feature and found it very useful. It holds up to six bottles, but would fit four comfortably along with breast-pumping stuff and dummies. It has two compartments too, so handy for separating small bottle bits like teats." This steriliser is certainly well built, and although it takes up a fair amount of kitchen counter space, it actually looks like a sleek piece of equipment. It’s sturdy, and since it’s been designed to hold six Dr Brown’s bottles, it’s generously sized; these bottles are some of the tallest and widest out there. That means that even if you use alternative bottle brands, you’re likely to be able to fit in a good number of items. Clean your baby's bottles and protect their developing immune system with the help of our steam and UV sterilising units. Do you have enough kitchen counter space to keep a sterilising unit out all the time? Would you want to if you did? Electric units usually stay plugged in on the counter – they’re too large to store and too bulky for it to be convenient to move them often. We tried electric and microwave and ended up using cold water Milton - it’s so easy just keep adding bottles after washing them and they’re sterile in 15 min."Tried and tested by Mumsnetter CharlieB93 Our verdict

Whether you want the ease of a sterilising solution, a steam-sterilising microwave option or the latest electric all-rounder, we've looked at all the options on the market. We've also listened to our BabyCentre parents to find out which sterilisers they are raving or ranting about. Great for busy mums, this one-touch super fast steam steriliser can eradicate germs in five minutes and can keep the contents sterile for 24 hours if the lid is kept closed.

10. Best steriliser for drying: Nuby Natural Touch Steriliser and Dryer

When the sterilising cycle is finished, either remove contents and use immediately or leave the lid closed and contents will remain sterile for up to 24 hours. If you’re bottle-feeding or expressing full-time, you’re likely to get through a large pile of equipment in a 24-hour period and you don’t want to spend all of it refilling the steriliser. As with any appliance, it's another piece of kit to have on your work surface and, if you don't use both compartments with this device you'll need to store them, which could be frustrating if you're short on kitchen space. We chose a microwave steriliser over an electric one for ease of cleaning and time. It's very easy to clean and only takes eight minutes to sterilise items. It fits everything we need and is a perfect size for us. It can fit four bottles and accessories. I'd recommend this steriliser."
