Description

Hazelnut protein bars have soy protein isolate and pea protein as the primary protein source. In my previous article, I have clearly explained that soy protein isolate is harmful to men, and men should not use it. On top of their slightly spennier price point, there are so many different varieties of protein bar out there. It can be hard to know which one to choose – especially if you have dietary requirements (such as being vegan), have allergies or suffer from IBS.

Personally, it was my least favorite of the bars. It was Mary’s least favorite, as well, because we’re both not big peanut fans. However, you should know that plant-based protein bars are not as high as regular ones. Vegan protein bars have more calories, carbs, fat, and low protein than standard protein bars. Barebells bars are available in seven flavors. We have ranked five of these Barebells bars by their nutritional profile, ingredients, protein content, taste, and overall product offering. So here comes the list. 1. Barebells Salty Peanut Flavor Protein Bars Very rarely does a product come along that I love unconditionally. Not to mention how rare it is to enjoy every flavor variation, too. White chocolate flavors have their fanbase. Indeed, a lot of people don’t like regular chocolate flavor. The white chocolate barrels protein bar is a fantastic option for those people.Like salty peanuts, white chocolate protein bars are also made with almost the same ingredients except for almonds. Historically speaking, protein bars have been very dense and chewy. For bars that have tried to mimic the candy bar textures, I’ve found that the flavor is not quite there, or they end up tasting very artificial (like Fit Crunch Bars). And then there’s the issue that if you promise dark chocolate, you should really deliver dark chocolate. I love dark chocolate – it’s rich is wonderful, and I don’t even mind the hint of bitterness. But this isn’t it. It’s too sweet and too faint a flavour. Plus, the chocolate coating is too thin for it to hold it’s own against the mint. It’s not too sweet, but there’s definitely sweetness to it. There are sugar alcohols (14g) in these bars to sweeten them, which often don’t sit well with my stomach. But after eating quite a few of these bars (multiple boxes) I haven’t noticed any issue with the sugar alcohols.

All the flavors look basically the same: a thin coating of milk chocolate and some sort of chunks on top (in this case, chocolate chunks.) It’s not an unpleasant bar by any means. It is good. The hazelnut flavour isn’t overpowering, but I think the sweetener make it taste somewhat artificial. I’d say it was the poor cousin of Fulfil’s Hazelnut Whip bar – obviously not as good but deserves some credit for trying. If you have dreams of Ferrero Rochers and/or Nutella, prepare to have your head ripped out of the clouds with this one. Salty Peanut (9/10) After some chewing, the bar does become a little tasteless, once the hit of salty peanut has passed. After a brief, albeit blissful, moment, the bar becomes regular old chocolate protein bar, until you move in for the next mouthful. The mint hits you first – nice and fresh. There’s a minty cream under the coating which makes for a nice moisture which saves the bar from being too ‘tough’. The core is the chewier ‘old-style’, not as soft as some of the more recent ‘nougat-y’ textured centres which is a shame.Enter the protein bar, a convenient way to get some extra protein in your diet when you're on the go. This protein bar is good enough that even if every other flavor of Barebells protein bars was extremely average, I would still consider them the best protein bar on the market. I felt like I could taste the sugar alcohols a bit more in this flavor, but it wasn’t overpowering by any means. The flavor was on point and I really enjoyed it. Generally, You get 20 grams of protein at 300-350 calories, and 20 grams of protein at just 200 kcal is fantastic for a protein bar. So as per the calories, barbells protein bars are a big yes. Milk protein, collagen peptides, humectant (glycerol), sweetener (sucralose, maltitol), polydextrose, cocoa, water, milk powder, sunflower oil, almonds, salt, soy lecithin.

It’s a classic protein bar flavour, and a go-to for many people. Barebells’ offering certainly looks good, coated in a thin layer of milk chocolate and sprinkled with cocoa soya crispies. This bar takes the best parts of all the other bars, combines them into one bar, and somehow makes them even better. Calcium caseinate, whey protein concentrate, whey protein isolate, glycerol, maltitol, collagen, polydextrose, soy protein isolate, cocoa butter, milk powder, water, sunflower oil, unsweetened chocolate, natural and artificial flavors, soy lecithin, sucralose. What sets Barebells apart is their candy bar-like texture. If you’re used to dense & chewy protein bars, Barebells will completely change the way you view protein bars. In terms of flavor, this bar actually reminds me of a Twix bar, which is one of my favorite candy bars of all time. So, if you haven’t heard of Barebells, or have seen them and assumed they were called “barbells protein bars,” then you’re likely not alone! The centre is very soft, almost fudge-y and with barely any chew. The chocolate coating is sweet and creamy, albeit a little thin. The crispies on the top and throughout the centre are plentiful and add a wonderful crunch. Texture-wise it’s pretty spot on. Some of you might get a feel of artificial marzipan chewing this white chocolate almond protein bar. The caramel outer layer on the top of the white chocolate is well blended together.
