Working days are defined as Monday-Friday 8am-7pm inclusive, excluding Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays. As this is a Dyson fan, it’s also extremely quiet: on the lowest speed you really can’t hear it at all. You can turn on horizontal and vertical oscillation, so the fan can be used to refresh air over a wider range, which is useful for refreshing an entire room. The Dyson Hot+Cool HP09 is very expensive at the outset, but some of this cost is offset by the fan's remarkable energy efficiency. There's nothing worse than trying to sleep in a boiling hot room, which is why tower fans are a must-have, especially this week!

Noise levels for the Auto React were also a standout with an average level of 43dB, just edging out the electriQ model as the quietest fan we tested. For the reduction in size you do sacrifice some power, and you don’t get height or pivot adjustments either – just oscillation. Ideally, a fan should offer a good range of speeds, ranging from a gentle breeze to a full on blast of air. Not so with the VonHaus 35″ Tower Fan, which manages to deliver some of the best fan performance that we’ve seen, both up close and across a room. The fan offers various settings to suit your preferences:- Three modes: Normal, natural, and sleep mode. It’s a touch on the expensive side, but if you want a small cooler that can keep you comfortable while you work or sleep, this one is very effective. If you do lose the remote, there’s the smart app to fall back on, which lets you do all the same things as the remote, including setting the fan speed (10 choices), target temperature in heat mode, and the sleep timer. We have plenty of advice on how to help your baby sleep safely in hot weather and ways to keep your child cool in the summer, but if you're looking for even more help, you may want to consider a tower fan. After conducting our testing, we would strongly recommend positioning this fan on the floor and never using it on an elevated surface.

Speaking of the filters, they are made of recycled materials though it is unclear if they can be recycled after use. A fan isn’t just about direct cooling, it’s about shifting stuffy, stale air around and refreshing a room. The reason for the design change is that the fan uses Dyson’s Core Flow technology, which lets the convex surface direct a fine stream of air exactly where you want it, making it perfect for personal cooling. We were also keen to focus on the environmental impact of the fans we tested so, in addition to measuring its energy consumption, we also looked at the packaging used to ship each model, noting the amount of plastic used and the recyclability of materials. The benefit, for most people, is one of laziness, as you can control your fan without having to stand up and move. It also comes fully assembled out of the box, meaning that there are no small screws or tricky plastic clips to fix the fan unit to the base.

It can also mean sleepless nights in a warm house, sweaty summer days and concerns about heat exhaustion or heatstroke. Noise levels are as low as you’d expect from Dyson, measuring just 37dB on the lowest setting, which is effectively background noise levels; on maximum, which is powerful, the fan comes in at 63. Parent tester Hannah noted that they are "ridiculously expensive but extremely effective and also no chance of little fingers getting hurt or hair stuck in them.

Whether you're working from home and struggling to keep cool, or finding it hard to sleep at night in a stuffy bedroom, a tower fan can be a godsend. Even with a baby, it is important to only use a fan to cool the room, and never face it directly towards a cot or bedside crib. They’re designed to filter out impurities in the air, including pollutants, allergens, dust and, in some cases, gasses. There’s also the 32 speed settings, more than any other fan we tested, which offer you fine tuned control over how fast or slow you want the fan to blow in your home.

On the topic of recyclability, the packaging is particularly excessive, especially when compared with the more expensive model. Where you'll likely notice the biggest compromise, however, is in the Beldray model's energy efficiency. It’s a little expensive compared to other evaporative coolers, but its smart features and envelope of cold air make it well worth the cash. If you’re looking for a fan that will last a long time and doubles up as an air filter to keep your family home cool and clean then the Auto React is a great option. Its power helps a lot: we measured air speed at 4m/s from 15cm away making this one of the most powerful fans that we’ve tested. When the summertime heat kicks in, one of the best ways to avoid getting overwhelmed by the weather is to arm yourself with fan that can cool you down quickly. The design is modern and sleek and the curves and rounded edges improve safety, although the lip around the fan opening is slightly sharp.
