Long time Tech Enthusiast, an ambitious petrol-head, Yagiz likes his gadgets and always finds new ways into the tinkerer's world.

She comes across clean and with nice resolution but warmer and more laid back than many iems of late. There’s an emphasis in the sub-bass as well as the upper-midrange but that’s about it as far as coloring is concerned. There is still a pretty nice presence in this area of the mix and due to the fairly well-balanced tuning I don’t find the midrange is dealt too horrible a recession. The build of the IEM is made of a plastic shell, but has been accented in this beautiful combination of a purple faceplate and blue transparent shell combo, giving it aesthetics that definitely sets it apart from the rest. The treble is thinner, yet it’s also warm and not as resounding and vibrant as I think it needs to be and gives the entirety of the Storm’s replay a warmer hue. These isolates less than what your average IEM can, with background noise more audible than other passive isolated IEMs. The sub-bass is improved over the KS2 stable-mate with a bit faster attack and decay and improved detail as a result. Hi-hats seems to fare better on this one as it depicts its natural sound to have the shortened, abrupt harsh sizzle. If you’ve managed to do this, your head is inside out, and you should probably get that checked out.

Mid-bassThe boom and slam are there, but again, this is not the type of set to blow your mind with bass boom. This set has 10mm dynamic drivers with a combination type of thermoplastic (polyetheretherketone) and a composite polymer (polyurethane) diaphragm which give a more rigid yet flexible and a good resistance and tolerance to chemical effects and high heat temperature. Personally I always jump back to Mac Miller - Swimming for testing dynamics and all I can say is I'm hearing things that should've laid back in the track suddenly comes forward, adding more to the track. The cable provides flexible coverings over your ears which help to shape them and hold them in place. Guitar growl is good with nice texture and good tonality but strings lack a bit of energy needed in that same region to be fully realized. The tonality of the KBEAR KS1 is quite similar to the BLON BL-01, perhaps the KBEAR KS1 is a tinge more V shaped (slightly more midbass and slightly more treble). Plastic covers almost the entirety of the units from the 2 pin connectors all the way up to the nozzles. With all that said, I want to thank KBear for providing this well-done set-in exchange for a feature at Mobileaudiophile. The resulting tuning should be comfortable to most listeners, as it's non-intrusive and well-balanced, perfect for all-purpose applications, but might not be detailed enough for analytical listening. Definitely not mid-centric or vocal-centric but also not so recessed that the midrange comes across bland.

Advanced Customized Balanced Armature Driver Specification Model: KBEAR KS2 Headphone type: In-ear headphones Headphone output source: HiFi Sensitivity: 106dB 3dB Cell Impedance: 16 Frequency response range: 20-20kHz Pin Type: 0. For me I do enjoy a bit more of a neutral leaning source with good energy and dynamics to drive the KB01. I was surprised here as the KS2 was above average in stage and here the KS1 drops back a step and while still good is not quite the equal of its sibling. The housing of each KB01 unit is precisely 3D printed using European medical-grade resin often used for hearing aids. From the horrible Opal (which I couldn't be bothered to review, as it should be erased from history) to the very restrictive F1, it seemed that KBEAR won't make it too far before vanishing from existance in the crowded earphones market. Her voice has this knife edged and processed digital sound at the leading edge of her vocals, especially during the chorus. If we were talking about more hardcore CHIFI connoisseurs who purchase midfi to TOTL gear, then yes, they have different priorities and perhaps an amp will unlock the sound for audio nirvana and future proof this hobby, but I honestly won’t recommend beginners to invest so much into sources when they are getting a budget CHIFI set.

The cabinet cavity of KBEAR KS2 is made of imported high-density PC material which can well suppress the diffuse reflection of sound waves inside the cavity. Overall technicalities of KB Ear Storm are definitely average which is quite norm on the ultra-budget segment. The slight contrast between the two sets are an improvement of coherency and the sound field width of KS1 is a bit narrower compared to Storm. Inside the Storm is a trusty single dynamic driver setup, which you can actually see inside because of the shell). It’s littered with poor translated English text such as not to wear them whilst driving as you won’t be able to hear ‘horning from other car’. Sensitive” by Meghan Trainor on the other hand shows how that pinna gain in the upper midrange might cause a bit of glare as well.
