For multichannel system (E.g. 5.1/7.1) or a surround application where multiple speakers are spreadout around the room, use the 90deg file and point the UMIK-2 at the ceiling. Tap on Sig Gen at the bottom of the screen. You can experiment with the different types of test signal here. For now, set it as shown below, adjusting the volume so that it plays through the system at a comfortable level. Ensure that the signal generator is enabled at the top right, and turn signal generation on and off with Play/Pause button (next to the Headphones label at the top left. Adjust the level with the iPad volume control and the Noise Amplitude slider, and use the Noise Pan control to send output to only one speaker. For stereo system (e.g. 2ch dirac live, single speaker measurement), use the 0deg file and point the UMIK-2 at the speakers In this application note, we will show you some basic acoustic analysis techniques that you can apply to measurements of your listening room made with the UMIK-1 and Room EQ Wizard (REW).

The miniDSP team built long term relationships with the following leading software applications and is proud to showcase them as our recommeded software solutions: Make sure to configure the plugin to binaural audio output. See the ambiMIK-1 manual for other settings you might want to modify. You can easily confirm that the VST plugin works as it should as only 2 channels will now become active under the Audio Mixer.Dirac Live: As a well known reference in the world of room correction with countless high end audio/automotive, we're honored to have Dirac as part of our partners. The UMIK-1 is the recommended microphone by Dirac Research. For OBS to be able to support the 4 ch USB audio interface from the ambiMIK-1, there are few settings to be configured first. To make sure the below steps are running smooth, make sure to connect the ambiMIK-1 to your PC/Mac before going further. Mount the UMIK-1 into the small stand supplied with it, or if you like, you can use any other microphone stand. To connect the UMIK-1 to your Apple iPad, you will need either the Lightning to USB adapter (for newer iPads with an 8-pin Lightning connector) or the Camera Connection Kit (for older iPads with a 30-pin connector). This photo shows an iPad mini connected to the UMIK-1 via the Lightning adapter: You're now up and running with the Audio side. You'll want to add your webcam or external video sources to the sources of OBS as per the manual of OBS.

Finally, change the signal generator to generate a pure tone (sine wave). Then go to the FFT display and tap the Play/Pause button. The display will show the tone being generated as a high "spike" as well as any distortion components. (For example, if you play a 1 kHz tone, distortion components will be at 2, 3, and 4 kHz):Amarra Symphony: Amarra Symphony with IRC is an advanced music file player for the Apple Mac platform. It includes a feature called "Impulse Response Correction" (IRC), that corrects for acoustical errors at the listening position caused by early reflections from the speaker and listening room. It also provides the ability to tailor the response at the listening position using target curves. Umik-1 on Ipad: Our technical team has been testing the UMIK-1 along with few ipad apps. A plug&play setup for a full featured measurement + SPL meter running from the Ipad. For cheap mics, I recommend the Sonarworks XREF20. You need to find a supplier who will sell them, since they’re meant to only be replacements for the bundled one with the software.

The UMIK-1 is an omni-directional USB measurement microphone providing Plug & Play acoustic measurement. From speaker & room acoustic measurement to recording, this microphone provides low noise and accurate results you can rely on. Forget about driver installation, OS compatibility and un-calibrated mics. The Umik-1 is a USB Audio class 1 device automatically recognized by all Operating Systems (Windows/Mac) and Ipad with Camera Connection Kit. It is provided with a unique calibration file based on the serial number to insure an accurate measurement. Combined with our recommended acoustic measurement software, it is the perfect match for a plug&play measurement system. Recall that we applied smoothing to the graph. An in-room measurement has a lot of reflections that create peaks and dips in the frequency response. Above 250 Hz or so, much of this is not relevant to what we hear, so for full-range measurements, 1/3 or 1/6th octave smoothing is generally used. For graphs limited to the low frequency range (up to say 300 Hz), use 1/24, 1/48 or no smoothing. Specifications: • Polar pattern: Omni-directional • Capsule type: 6 mm electret • Frequency response: 20 to 20,000 Hz ±1 dB with calibration loaded • Resolution and sample rate: 24 bit ADC @ 44.1 or 48 kHz • Max SPL for 1% THD @ 1 kHz: 133 dB SPL @ 0 dB gain setting • Output noise level: -74 dB FS • Power requirement: 5V via USB connector. Why is the graph so uneven? Shouldn't we have a flat frequency response? Mostly, it's because of the room. Room modes (resonances) and reflections in a room act to make a nice flat loudspeaker response into a roller-coaster. Based on another thread it might also be that your signal level is a bit low for the UMIK-2. Are your results repeatable? For stereo system (e.g. 2ch dirac live, single speaker measurement), use the 0deg file and point the UMIK-1 at the speakers You're now up and running with the ambiMIK-1 streaming into OBS. Next stage is to configure the Dirac Live VST plugin so we're converting the ambisonic signal from the 4 mic capsules to a binaural signal one can enjoy with a headphone. 3. Configure the ambiMIK-1 VST plugin [Top] REW: miniDSP worked along with John Mulcahy to develop even greater compatibility for the UMIK-1 inside REW! With the latest beta release of REW (v5.01 and up), the UMIK-1 is automatically recognized by the software and prompted for use when REW is started with the microphone plugged in. The main measurement plot shows a frequency measurement graph in red. At the left is a small "thumbnail" version of the measurement - each time you make a new measurement, a new thumbnail will appear here. At the top of the screen are buttons that access various tools and immediately above the measurement is a row of tabs that show different "views" of the measurement. At this stage the steps to start your YouTube/Facebook/Twitch Live stream or recording a local stream will be similar to any stereo content. If you're not familiar with setting up OBS for Youtube/Facebook live, we recommend you follow some of the great step by step guides to get you started knowing this is a common question.
